I guess the only issue with Verdugo is the work ethic rumors. The question becomes could this clubhouse hold him accountable, is he willing to be held accountable, and is it worth trying? Will it be a regret if his work ethic is really an issue?

Yeah I'm not sure if it's ever happened but if there was ever a time for a player to fire his agent during his free agency this would it.

The best deal he has is one that a) he passed on earlier in the process and b) is a pay cut from what he was making.

I'm not sure he could've handled this any worse.

It's his future and his money. If he's not getting all the information (total speculation) that ultimately falls on him, especially so when it's been speculated that Boras has "hid" information before (as you mentioned). I agree that that tweet completely removes any and all agency and responsibility Alex has in this situation.
