Now that the Tucker ****er is retired, what do we call an Isaac Paredes HR?
It is indeed very strange. I know the Astros wanted Paredes as a 1B last year when we had Bregman, but with him in the fold, 3B does indeed feel like the optimal path for roster construction.
If you simply stick him at 3B, you could trade Framber to Boston for either Abreu or Casas (also getting more salary relief) and then have plenty to sign one of Walker/Santander/Hernandez (depending on whether you got Abreu or Casas), Kepler, and a good reliever.
Your lineup depth may not be as dynamic at the top, but it would have more length with Pena and Chas pushed to the 8/9 spots.
I just do not understand the desire to add Arenado at $15M. The Bregman path may not be the smartest, but I will understand if they feel compelled to do that due to leadership/culture/intangibles in addition to on-field production. But I do not see the reason for significant spend on another flawed 3B when you now have that spot covered.

Agreed. To me, Bregman is done. He had a chance to sign a fair offer and the club moved on. I politely tell him thank you for his service, pull the offer and that money should be 100% redirected to a corner OFer.

I know that could potentially harm any chance of signing HB or any other Boras client to any sort of deal, but it would feel awesome to punch Boras in the figurative mouth for being such a tool.
I can assure you they are not out on Bregman though the odds are still pretty slim

Hopefully he makes a decision one way or the other soon. It's holding the team hostage from doing other things and they may miss other opportunities.

This. I think Boras is finding the market soft on Bregman. His notorious slow starts and bone spurs sidelining him are two reasons I can think of off the bat.

And Bregman went from great to good. He's been ~25% above avg for a few years now. He's entering his age 31 season. It didn't help that he underperformed and threw up from red flags in his walk year.
