Don't blame them for not doing it last year. Hunter hadn't proven it yet … this past season was the first he put it all together
HB was smart to not take an offer off a bad season. I wonder what the astros offer was? I'm guessing closer to Javi than LMJ, but if they lowballed him, that could've been motivating by itself.

Yeah. Devers is not good at 3B. He's headed to either 1B or DH. Adding VladJr means that's the other.
I wouldn't mind buying low on Casas in a Framber trade. Would need a pitcher though. Maybe you could deal Framber, Melton and another B level prospect for Casas and Crawford?

I agree that I keep thinking that a deal centered around Framber for Casas or Abreu seems to make way too much sense. It would simply be a matter of balancing out the value for both sides.

Example: If Bregman signs with the Yankees, that likely makes Walker much more available for Houston as NYY will likely no longer pursue. Right now Walker is waiting to see if the Yankees will raise their offer if Bregman doesn't sign there.
They can put a deadline on Alex to make a decision on if he wants to sign here if they want, but it wouldn't change anything as far as the rate that they're pursuing others. The whole league is waiting.

The interesting thing is where he wants to move to; the areas he's been considering are Monterrey, Mexico (much lower than Mexico City, and also much closer to W.Texas, NM, and Southern AZ population centers. They're also considering a move between Austin and San Antonio, to hopefully pick up those two underserved population centers, and continue to attack the mexican beisbol fan.
