No one can deny we were all excited for Abreu. But we can also all admit that we've had some pretty terrible free agent luck.

Options ranked (IMO) from least to most likely:
1. Go for broke and open the bank for a stud like Soto.
2. Sell everything and start over with as many prospects as possible through trades.
3. Split the baby and execute a soft rebuild by trading a starter (Tucker or Valdez, for example).
4. Keep vets until they walk and fill in gaps with a range of free agents on short term deals.
I see a gap between 2 and 3, and then a huge chasm between 3 and 4. I'd put the different percentages as 1%, 1%, 8%, 90%.
I also see #4 as a slow but inevitable bleed out to a hard and painful rebuild. Bottom line, I hope Dana captures lightning in a bottle this winter.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.
Honestly, the more I think about it -- I like 3 as the best option. It's not writing off 2025, but sets us up in a better position in 26 and beyond.
