My initial thoughts were they would wait till June to get the extra year out of him but it definitely seems possible he could come up earlier.

Let's not act like he dropped a fly ball that he was camped under. In both instances, he was trying to get in position to make a throw home. I have a feeling that once the season starts, he'll be much more conservative on those and focus on making the catch.

Outfielders lining up a throw to the plate do not drop the ball in the major leagues.

I tend to think those two were tough plays with high skies, shadows, and Florida wind. I saw the Nationals misplay a few that game as well.

If he drops another one anytime soon he has no business being back there in a big league game imo. I think he can come through for us, but I am a bit worried at this time.

and the rockets are the last remaining nba team to not offer that option

You mean 134 PAs, right? He played 32 minor league games after getting drafted last summer and had 134 PA.

Pete Alonso hit 4, 5, and 14 HRs in his three seasons at Florida. He hit 5 in his first season of the minors in 123 plate appearances. He hit 53 as a rookie (after two seasons in the minors).

Like I said, I'm not predicting Cam Smith to hit 60 home runs, but there are plenty of examples to show that power can be developed. Even if Smith winds up as a 35 HR per season guy, it was a great trade for the Astros.

I was highly confused for a minute.

But every person associated with the Astros and every fan would be freaking ecstatic if Smith turns out to be hit .300 with 30'ish HR on a regular basis.

After reading what Lopez and Dubon had to say about Cam Smith made me think - I don't recall anyone talking about Tucker like that. Makes you wonder. Maybe the rumors about the lollygagger were accurate?

I mean… they all nicknamed him Ted because he reminded them of Ted Williams. Pretty high praise.

That said, I know for a fact that AJ Hinch himself was pretty open behind the scenes about his concerns regarding his work ethic, etc from about the moment he started working out with the big league club.
