Next year they are pretty close to CBT... something like within $10M. If JV doesn't make the Option... they'll have to replace him, as well.

We got a backup C that can DH some for a couple guys that should be Rule V at the end of the season and were not in our Top30... likely aging out of the prospect category.
We gave up a SP (Lorenzen) that was probably going to get moved to the BP for a LH RP that may or may not contribute in '24, but should give us a solid piece in the future.
We added an All-Star 3B (Jung) for Nothing.
We added a SP (Mahle) under team control for next year and a SP-moved-to BP LHP (Bradford) that we control for like 5-6 years. We gave up nothing.
So... 3B Bat, Backup C, SP, RP for almost nothing.
Meanwhile, Houston gave up #5 (Loperfido), #9 (Bloss), and #13 prospects for a rental that is nothing more than an innings eater who may not make their playoff rotation, assuming they still make it. Loperfido and Bloss were both contributors today and both had team control for 5-6 more years. *poof* Gone along with their '25 season.
