Series win. EVO on the bump tomorrow for a potential much needed sweep.

Rangers win and Astros lose. Also looks like the mariners will take a loss today.

I would be shocked if he didn't make the team.

Glad we got the win. The semien Homer was fun. Could look back at it as a season saving or defining moment if we happen to go on a run.

It looks like Latz sucks balls and needs to be demoted. We need a good lefty reliever.

Twins pitchers thrown at and injured both Yordan Alvarez and garden gnome Altuve in back to back games.

I wouldn't be sad if one of them had to miss a few months. It would be karma for them laughing at us when Jung went down.

Is there some bad blood between Minnesota and the humidity boys? And how serious of an injury was it?

Carlos Correa is with Minnesota.

Seems there was a dust-up last year in the playoffs.

Heaney's ERA is now at 3.80 for the season, which is pretty solid for a back of the rotation guy. So I'm fully expecting a 2 IP, 7 ER outing in his next start.

Altuve said he was initially worried about the hand when he was hit, but was feeling better postgame after X-rays came back negative. He acknowledged there was still some adrenaline flowing through his hand, though.

Quote:

Alvarez was diagnosed with a right knee contusion Saturday and didn't go in for imaging, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports.
We'll see how truthful that info is. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't fully disclose until after the game tomorrow.

Not bad at all.

And with 90.0 IP, he will remain "Qualified" through tomorrow's game. He is 23rd in the AL for ERA.

Lorenzen is 2.0 IP shy of Qualifying and his 3.21 would put him at #10 in the AL.

Jankowski-Knizner-Ornelas…. Name a worse starting 3 in any MLB batting order

The good reality is we don't run that out there too often:
Jankowski (DH): 57G, .205, 1 HR
Ornelas (IF): 5G, 333, 0HR
Knizner (C): 29G, .141, 1 HR

A couple references...

Seattle:
Haniger (RF): 78G, .209, 7 HR
Polanco (2B): 53G, .195, 5 HR
Garver (DH): 75G, .174, 11 HR
Moore (IF): 72G, .207, 8 HR

Raleigh (C): 84G, .203, 15 HR

Julio Rodriguez left the game with a Hammy issue: 89G, .247, 8 HR

Tampa:
Arozarana (LF): 85G, .198, 11 HR
Siri (CF): 75G, .205, 11 HR
BLowe (2B): 41G, .230, 8 HR

They certainly get more power, but they are starters. They have other dogs.

You're the doctor.

I think that is code for, it is bad, and we'll fully update you when we decide to.

When an injury happens during a game, the player is often able to deal with it better during the game or in the moment because the player has the adrenaline pumping throughout their entire body from competing in the game, but after the game is over the injury usually sets in and gets much worse than the player initially feels when the injury first occurred.
Grapesoda2525

I'm not going to feel bad for other teams or feel like we "lucked out" if and it's still a big if, we happen to get back into the race because of injuries. I think it's fair to say that the biggest reason we are so far behind in the first place is because of injuries.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Injuries are part of baseball.

Winning isn't just having the best team, it is having the depth to overcome the injuries. If a team doesn't experience many injuries, they are fortunate and will likely do well, but injuries happen.

Maybe so. I'm going to go with DallasAg's theory that it means it's bad and they'll tell us at some point.

Injuries are a major part of ball. The mariners have been extremely lucky that their pitching staff has been pretty healthy for the most part. It's extremely rare in today's game that an entire pitching staff is fairly healthy. Has to be very concerning for their fan base that they've had one of the best rotation with very good health and still haven't been able to get a nice divisional lead in a down year for the division.

Imagine if we had DeGrom, scherzer, and Eovaldi healthy all season minus a few games and we only had 49 wins. I would be very concerned.

True. It's sad because if our bats were even 75% of what they were last season we probably have a 5 game lead in the division right now.

Don't fall for the Sip-type propaganda.

"Rival Exec..." of course... Astros have a 3-game series coming up against the Rangers. The day after Seattle loses J-Rod to a Quad injury and Astros have their 2 best O players hurt, "Rival Exec" predict we could sell at the deadline if we don't start winning?! LOL

Rangers get 3 games @LAAA and then visit Houston where we own them. Astros likely lost Yordan until after the ASG and Altuve likely is hurt. He was "available" to PH last night, but they chose someone else.

We have our Ace on the mound today. 5-2 is possible and if we do that, we are in the thick of it. We got back a HoF SP (Scherzer), Mahle is close... Jung could return after the ASG (I know... unlikely)...

Don't fall for the the crap.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
After today and before the ASG:

@LAAAA
Gray: 15GS, 3.92 v Daniel (27): 2GS, 2.70, 13.1 IP, 11K <- Career 25.2 IP
Scherzer: 3GS, 2.70 v TBD
Lorenzen: 15GS, 3.21 v Canning (28): 18GS, 4.87, 98.0, 67K

@Hou
Heaney: 17GS, 3.80 v Brown: 17GS, 4.48
Eovaldi: 14GS, 3.15 v Arrighetti: 15GS, 6.13
Gray: 15GS, 3.92 v Blanco: 16GS, 2.53

I just hope people temper expectations for the return and remember the days of pulling in a haul of prospects for a rental are over.
