Do you actually follow the stats or just get upset when the team has a poor outing?!

Fire the guy giving you the Most Runs in the AL and has his team hitting with the 2nd best Avg in the AL because hitters look bad in a stadium known to not be true to pitching?!

I get it... this team is under performing offensively... based on expectations... We've been without Jung and Lowe for most of that... and Seager we all know is not 100%. And yet, we're still kinda doing ok.

Batting Avg:
1. Astros: .262
2. Rangers: .256
3. Yankees: .249
4. Orioles: .246
5. Rays: .244

Runs:
Rangers: 205 (42G)
Yankees: 202 (42G)
Orioles: 198 (39G)
Guardin: 195 (41G)
Twins: 195 (40G)

Injuries:
Rangers Starters: 3B Jung (60); DH Langford (10)
Others: Foscue (60)

Yankees Starters: DJ LeMahieu (10)
Others: Peraza (10), Dominguez (60)

Orioles: Hays (10)

Houston:McCormick

DallasAg 94 Guide to watching (or listening) to MLB

Spring Training: This is the time to romanticize. It is the time for back-of-the-card baseball statistics comparisons. Some average schmoos will be projected by fans as HoFers... and some established veterans may be considered washed-up.

Player's view: Time for tinkering and evaluating effectiveness for adjustments.

Fan's should collect information and contemplate, but by the end, it resets to 0 to start the season and all bets are off.

March/April: This is the time to get smacked in the face. Many fans panic and make season long decisions about the teams' deficiencies and celebrate Ws.

Player's view: "Oh ****, that didn't work." or "Ok, I like how that feels." Players get real world feed back on where they are and off-season adjustments. They'll likely continue to tinker and focus on what is working.

Fan's should get excited that baseball has returned. Fans should also realize it is a marathon. Focus on enjoying baseball's return with all the hopes and dreams of winning the WS.

May: Now is the time to let teams get their stride. You'll start to see who has promise and start to doubt where players are. Be patient. Be patient.

Player's view: I think this is where players start to get their comfort. They've made some adjustments and now you're starting to see teams a 2nd time. All the off-season surprises were revealed and now you get better scouting and consistency.

Fan's view: Now is the time to sit back and watch your favorable players get in a rhythm. Teams will start to show strengths/weaknesses.

June: Time for players to show themselves and standout on the team. Voting for the ASG is underway and you want to be noticed.

Player's view: "A couple more HRs and a nice defensive play will get me more votes." Ok, maybe they aren't that completely focused on themselves, but their stats and performance become much more relevant. Some players are starting to wonder if they are going to get dumped. Some may have already.

Fan's view: Root on your favorite players and vote. Vote. Vote. Vote.

July: All-bets are off. The ASG seems to break teams and players. 2nd H of July leaves almost every team's fans wondering, "Who TF is this team."

ASG-to-Trade deadline: This is almost as fun as Spring Training. Who will my team trade? Who will my team get? Where are the holes in the roster? Will my team address them? What teams are quitting?

That will get you to the summer. Enjoy. The pre-playoff season begins in August and that is when it is time to panic. SO... 90 days or so.

Missed in all the fretting about the Offense is the fact we have a legit SP emerging.

Urena as a SP: 2GS, 2.31 ERA, 11.2 IP (5.2 IP/GS)

Overall his ERA has dropped to 3.62 and been another GEM CY signed.

Urena and lorenzen were both great and cheap pickups. Where the **** would we be without those 2?

The offense will come around. It's basically the same lineup that won a World Series. I'm not worried about that.

What excites me is the pitching. We have some on the roster that can't get demoted fast enough, but damn there have been some good additions. The worst bullpen in baseball last year is now a strength

Just get healthy..:

Taveras has come alive. That's sure good to see. Seager showing signs. We just need to get healthy.

We are in pretty good shape considering we are currently without our top 3 starting pitchers in Evoldi, Dunning and Bradford. All three were pitching well. Gray and Heaney have been good lately. Just need to get those other three back, and eventually Scherzer and possibly DeGrom.

According to Evan Grant, Evan Carter has an appointment with a back specialist today in Dallas. Not sounding good here.

Jung, Carter, Langford all hurt. All so young but still hurt. This season reminds me of the past 2 aggie football seasons. Just an insane number of injuries.

Damn. The amount of injuries this early is nuts.

Also forgot about Bradford as a really young guy that is hurt. Did we ever figure out how he broke a rib from pitching? Not only do we have an all star team on the IL but we also have the futures team on the IL!

Also, just imagine how the players feel about this. You know you have a 100 win team but half the talent can't stay on the field. Those guys are the most competitive people on the planet and all the injuries must be killing them.

So, it was a fracture from what I heard.

I've honestly heard of a sneeze causing a rib fracture.

I'm just emotional and going off the eyeball test. Feels like every time I watch the game, it he offense doesn't show up. Maybe I need to stop watching…

I'm extremely disappointed about it to be honest. I know it's not the players fault or nobody is doing it on purpose, but I expected the team to be healthier than last season. The bar wasn't set very high in that department. Remember when we sent 6 guys to the all star game and a few weeks later they were all on the injured list?

No need to quit watching... just a little perspective...you've got an amazing ring. You don't win those in May... you win them in November.

Just gotta get there...

Having raised and mentored a bunch of yutes... you learn patience.

So on the newly announced theme ticket ring nights, is it still first come, first served that night? Or does having one of the ring tickets count as being in the first 2,000?

I bought a couple for Sept. 8 and am curious if it's still a mad dash to get there early.
Mr Gigem

I read it as only 2000 tickets are being sold for that. So as long as you bought that specific theme night ticket, then you should be good. I'll look into it

This team just can not hit LH starting pitching right now. Good news is we face all righties against Cleveland, bad news is coming off Cleveland we face a bad Angels teams throwing 2/3 lefties. Got to find away to keep head above water for the next month. Hopefully the schedule gives us more righties than lefties.
DallasAg 94

I think Leiter will slowly get to the SP we hope he can be. Maybe not 100% or the ToTR guy... but a solid MLB SP... maybe a 3/4 guy.

Even as an Innings guy, I hope he makes it.

At some point we've got to give Huff a shot at the DH spot you would think. Wenzell isn't getting it done. Duran could split 3B with Smith until Jung gets back.

I'm beginning to think Huff must have disrespected Bochy's or CY's family at some point. They are hell bent on keeping him off the MLB roster.

Ha yeah. Boch as a former catcher but have an issue with his defense or game calling. Or they view his development catching every day as more important but he's done a lot of that at this point seems like.

Take Jung for instance, no amount of work with a training staff will help with broken bones.

Seager, Sports hernia, you might blame the training staff if they were not pushing surgery earlier

Pitching, most if not all teams are dealing with injuries.

Jung has been the one that kills me the most. Broken bones are not his fault, especially the way this one happened, but damn he has literally not played a full pro season since he's been drafted.
