At least Heaney didn't blow up the bullpen. I'm ready to see more of Bradford / Scherzer starting soon tho hopefully.

Biggest issue with this team right now is lack of run production. Did not see that coming this year.

This offense stinks right now.

Yep, offensive inconsistency is driving this .500 record. Bats have got to come around, or else the return of Scherzer then DeGrom (if it happens this season) won't matter.

Know we are only 26 games into a long season, but the current trend is not playoff friendly. It's especially tough dropping series to division rivals.

Your last place Houston Asstros have one series win on the season...

This offense will get going. There are too many quality hitters on this team to stay as stagnant they are. Have to remember that Seager missed all but a fraction of spring training. Jung was on fire before his injury. Get Seager going and get Jung back and everyone else starts getting better looks too.

Everyone should be patient.

The team seems to be turning its health around. Coming into this season, we all anticipated a 24/7 dog fight with the Astros and we have gotten the complete opposite of that.

We haven't played anyone bad yet except for the Astros who always seem to have our number and the Oakland A's a bad team we have problems with even when we score 10 runs a game.

The mariners, angels, and A's aren't nearly as scary as the Astros. Let's just keep pace and start beating up on bad teams when they come in after this weekend is over.

It's gonna be tough sledding after this wkd too. Washington isn't nearly as bad as last year. Some good young hitters, some crappy ones (gallo) and good young starters.

The Seager missed all of spring training excuse set sail a bit ago. We're 26 games into the season. He's just flat out in a slump right now.

Missing ST is causing it. It is one thing to be out of sorts in a completely meaningless ST game and able to work through it then. It is a whole other thing to do that in the regular season. He'll get it straightened out but it will take a bit to do.

Seager has absolutely crushed some balls the past week, I'm not worried about his production.

Lowe has been solid since his return. If Smith keeps hitting, does Jung just DH when he comes back?
Flounder Dorfman

There were some balls today that were absolutely smoked for outs. That's what happens when an offense is in a slump. Those balls will start finding the gaps and runs will be produced.

Like someone else said, there are too many good hitters throughout this lineup to get stressed out about the offense. Get some guys healthy and settled back in and it will be just fine.

Sborz looked good today and Cole Winn was fantastic. I have very tempered expectations for max when he gets back but I'm pumped for the pen. Who will get added?

I wonder what % of the runs we have given up came from a HR. Seems like every time I check the score after a few frames the other team has already put a ball in the seats.
DallasAg 94
How long do you want to ignore this user?
A bunch. Last I check Dunning, only 2 ERs of his were NOT from HRs.

Should be an easy pick.

We've given up 30 HRs and 103 ERs, so that's about 30%. Seems like almost all of them had 1 guy on, so 60%?!

Our Starters are 19 and 62.

At least being there was more fun than when we got 1 hit by the fricking A's.

I did find it humorous that 2 weeks later I finally got to witness Wendzel's first hit.

As I pooped on Mitch Bratt earlier today, he went 6 IP and 8Ks last night.

As others have mentioned this bullpen is coming together. Way deeper than last season. Once the bats get going and we get Heaney and Gray out of the rotation, the pitching on this team should be great. Anyone heard any updates on Bradford?
Water Boy

Baseball is all about timing. Hopefully the bullpen continues to perform once the bats heat up. But knowing how baseball works the pen will be bad once the bats start going. Either way still enjoying the season overall. It's fun knowing that whatever happens this season we won it all last year and the window will be open next season.

Sandro Fabian is hitting close to .400 now in 73 ABs, driving in the only run for round rock tonight (game winner).

I am telling you, if he does this sort of line for another full month or two, he will either be on this team by the All-Star break or he will be the headline for a huge trade.

that pitching line is awesome to see. Move some of Gray/Dunning/Heaney to the pen (or trade one of them) and put Leiter in the rotation. Having a solid guy in the rotation that is still under team control... that would be worth a ton in a trade. But I'd rather keep him here for the financial flexibility. Lets say he and Bradford can become viable members of the rotation, that would be two still under team control.

I spent all of 3 minutes on this, but I am not sure this is sustainable (hope I am wrong on that). But scanning through, he was previously in the Giants organization. He hasn't hit over .300 in a full MiLB season since 2016.

We will have to keep an eye on him and see if he has somehow figured things out.

With Dunning, this week, it really seemed like the P was putting more emphasis on pounding the zone.

He only went 4.1, but he seemed to really be challenging hitters early.

Dunning: 4.1, 3BB, 89 PC-52 ST
JonGray: 4.2, 1BB, 92 PC-62 ST
Heaney : 6.0, 0BB, 79 PC-59 ST

It will be interesting against Cincy to see if the same perception. We really need to win the next 2 series.

I'll try to grab some quick stats on SP injuries, but the real value in those 3, right, IMO, are as SP trade options.

Josh smith is probably playing too good to sit. Even when Jung gets back. I think smith shouid take Leody's starting spot.
gigem1223
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Agree. I think at this point when Jung gets back you split him and Smith at DH/ 3rd. Of course Smith could have a Duran type fall off by then but as of now I don't think you can sit Smith.
Flounder Dorfman

Smith doesn't really need to split time with anyone. He can definitely help Jung get settled back in, but Jung isn't coming back from knee or shoulder surgery. Once his wrist is healed he's good to go.

I say he doesn't need to split time with anyone because he plays multiple positions and can give several players an off day by inserting him at their position. And then off days for himself.

With all of that said, I expect Smith to hit near .300 all year about as much as I expect Seager to hit .250. He's hot right now and that's great, but he's not really a starter on a championship team. He's IKF, and that's great to have.

Or… we could keep Jung at third, Carter at CF, rotate Langford at LF/DH, have smith rotate between 3rd SS and LF and trade Leody lol

I was going to highlight all the SPs on the IL, but that is more daunting than I want to take on.

Let me take a different approach... Here are the Qualifed SPs by team in the AL

There are 42 SPs who are currently on pace to be Qualified, meaning 1IP/G the team has played. So, 162IP for the season.
AL East
Jays (3):: Berrrios: 6, 1.24; Kikuchi: 5, 2.28; Bassitt: 5, 3.90
O's (3):: Burns: 5, 2.76; Rodriguez: 5, 4.45; Kremer: 5, 4.61
Rays (4):: Littell: 5GS, 3.33; Eflin: 5GS, 3.68; Pepiot: 5GS, 3.77; Civale: 5GS, 3.90
Red Sox (3):: Crawford: 5GS, 0.66; Houck: 5GS, 1.65; Bello: 5GS, 3.04
Yankees (3):: Rodon: 5GS, 2.70; Stroman: 5GS, 2.93; Cortes: 6GS, 3.50

Summary: O's lost Bradish, Yankees lost Cole, and Boston has lost Giolito.

AL Central
Guardians (1):: Allen: 5GS, 5.06
Royals (5):: Lugo: 5GS, 2.03; Marsh: 5GS, 2.70; Singer: 5GS, 2.76; Wacha: 5GS, 3.81; Ragans: 6GS, 3.90
Tigers (2):: Skubal: 5GS, 1.82; Flaherty: 5GS, 4.91
Twins (2):: Ryan: 5GS, 3.45; Lopez: 5GS, 4.39
WhiteSox (3):: Fredde: 5GS, 2.73; Crochet: 6GS, 6.37; Soroka: 6GS, 6.83

Summary: Outside the Royals, the SP is in shambles.

AL West
Angels (2):: Anderson: 5GS, 1.78; Detmers: 5GS, 2.12
Astros (1):: Blanco: 4GS, 1.33
Athletics (4):: Blackburn: 5GS, 2.03; Sears: 5GS, 3.38; Stripling: 5GS, 5.34; Wood: 6GS, 6.59
Mariners (4):: Gilbert: 5GS, 1.87; Miller: 5GS, 2.22; Castillo: 6GS, 4.15; Kirby: 5GS, 5.33
Rangers (2):: Eovaldi: 5GS, 3.30; Dunning: 5GS, 4.61

Summary: I think the records reflect the SP and it will come down to who thinks they have enough talent to compete.
