Yes they did improve it. Robertson, Yates and Urena were added. Sborz injury hurt. Better relief will be coming when some starters come back. We also have a handful of good young relievers in AAA that will be up soon.
Pitching has to improve. Idk if it's still because it's early in the season, but **** won't cut it. It's been down right atrocious at times (and I'm not talking about Pruitt, who's a guy brought in to get shelled).

Meh you're entitled to your opinion, I was happy with the signings as well but still definitely felt it didn't move the needle and we needed more/better.

I was fine with it. You don't spend big money on relievers. They're too fickle. If the bullpen is still an issue once we do get some guys back and/ or called up then CY will make some moves at the deadline.
Completely agree! That's why I'm not worried. I trust CY and ownership. And Boch of course.
Also I agree on not spending too big. Just felt like a little more could have been done. But I'm not worried. Even if we can add a starter or two at the deadline a few guys could get pushed down into the bullpen and it would help.

We simply won't know a ton about our pitching (except maybe who's really bad like we are figuring out) until Scherzer, Mahle and deGrom are back. There's just too many guys out who WILL be pitching for us later this season. Good news is, I think this front office isn't afraid to ship anyone out and we'll see quite a bunch different guys until they find who sticks. Absolutely agree that front office and manager have earned trust. Seeing the same issues with relief as last year is frustrating. Going to have to watch the season play out to see if additions are actual improvements.

Although we have to also consider the fact that Degrom and Scherzer could get hurt again like that. Doesn't take much with scherzer at his age and we all know about Degrom.
But I trust the FO. I'm not worried at all at this point in the season.

Langford is really struggling to barrel the ball. Bunch of weak contact for a guy that hits the ball hard.

Problem is that we have guys who are STILL on this team and STILL pitching like dog water. So while we absolutely got better, the other guys have equally been worse.

This game is just as much on the offense as pitching. Plenty of opportunities to blow it open. Win tomorrow with Nate on bump and all is fine.

I at least trust the offense to find it. I don't trust the pitching to do anything but continue to suck. You can't score 8 runs every game either. You need to be able to win games 3-2 or 5-4. Close games we are in just get blown upon right now.sburg2007 said:

Didn't get to watch today but was following along off and on. Until it became 7-2 and it was just off. Two items of note.
Heaney does absolutely nothing for me in the rotation. He is hands down, 100% first man out once anyone else is ready.
Someone already said it, but why would we sign a spare like Knizner when we could have just signed an elite defensive catcher that everyone loves in Hedges? If it was for his bat then Huff is sitting in AAA right now.

Lot's of teams looking for someone like Heaney...
Heaney was a guy who accepted his option for 2024 @ $13M. If he gets 3 more IP he is making $20M. I see him as a reasonably priced and reliable Innings guy. He is also an experienced RP.
I've been beating a drum to trade him if/when an opportunity arises, but until then, we just need him to stay healthy, chew up innings, and keep us in the game. He did that today.
He could be moved into the BP, but being stretched out he has more value, IMO, as a SP. Lorenzen might replace him. They may Tandem. Who knows.
