We will find out more on that today I guess, with a lefty on the mound. Interesting that we have Walsh and Carter back to back. Bochy usually likes to alternate righty/lefty moreso than he did today. We have several righty's lined up in front of Walsh.

Owen White (SP) had a terrible outing on Friday.
4.0 IP, 4 ER, 4H, 2BB, 6SO
Winn had some good.
2.0, 0 ER, 1H, 1BB, 3 SO

Lorenzen actually started yesterday's game. ST form good not great.
2.2 IP, 3 H, 3ER, 2 BB, 3 SO
Leiter had great numbers.

Not surprising that Lorenzen and Bradford were the SP on the same day. Not surprising Leiter pitched on the same day as Lorenzen. Lorenzen takes Bradford's spot (or will he?!) and Leiter becomes the SP in AAA.

Speaking of Bradford...

I've been trying to think why Bradford got the G2 SP slot. I've never been accused of overthinking things.

My guess is, you have Eovaldi (R) going G1 and want to follow with a Lefty. Heaney seems like the likely person. If you put Bradford after Eovaldi, I think you are increasing Bradfords success. He just watched Eovaldi's approach to the same team. Eovaldi can coach Bradford on what he saw from a hitter perspective. Basically, you hide Bradford behind Eovaldi.

You also get Bradford pitching at Home instead of in Tampa.

Keep in mind that the PCL is notoriously tough on pitchers. Lots of hitter friendly ballparks skew the ERAs, about a run per game. So a 4.50 ERA there is more like a 3.50 elsewhere.

This was discussed several times on the broadcast. The Rays hit lefthanders hard and the assumption was that Heaney would be better suited to go against them than the young and relatively inexperienced Bradford. That's why he pitched against the Cubs instead.

TV crew was speculating it was because of his numbers against Tampa. Staff thinks Heaney would do better.

As a victim of Bally's, I clearly didn't get to see the TV broadcast.

Of course. But I'll take it for now. It at least adds some validation to the Spring Training talk that "he may have turned a corner" has some validation. Yes, he needs to prove it on an ongoing basis, but I am glad he is getting some innings in at the AAA level (there was some talk in ST about him being the long reliever). I think he needs to have some success there before moving up to the MLB level.

I'm sure this has been covered… as a YouTube TV subscriber in Dallas, how do I watch local broadcasts? Doesn't appear a direct Bally sub or MLB pass will work?

You can't get it through YTTV. You would need cable, Directv, Fubo, or the Bally Sports App subscription.
