Keizer and Taveras hitting 8 and 9 again. Could be tough to beat a stacked team like Atlanta with 2 black holes.

Why can't we let huff have a shot?

Leody's OPS is basically the same as Langford's. Leody, Langford, Carter, and Jankowski are all hitting pretty terrible. There aren't any real options other than to keep rolling the same dudes out there. Would definitely rather see Huff though

Leody is batting around .333 the past 4 games. His bat is not one I currently worry about.

Several points I'd make here.

I believe the reason the Rangers haven't made Huff the backup catcher is because they don't believe that's what he profiles as. He's the type of hitter who needs regular ABs, and he's not going to get those backing up iron man Jonah Heim. He has a big long swing and it's much harder for that type of player to stay locked in as opposed to slap hitters like Smith and Jankowski. He's also not as experienced defensively, because he missed quite a bit of time with an injury in the minors.

Knizner has been stinking it up, and obviously now Huff gets his shot, but I think he'll have to really hit well to stay up. As far as what he's been hitting at AAA, that's kind of irrelevant - Davis Wendzel was hitting .314 with a 1.076 OPS at Round Rock, and look how much he hasn't done.

One thing that seems to get downplayed or overlooked on here is how big a jump it actually is from the minors to the bigs. And for those of you who keep clamoring for Foscue, Huff, etc, just remember that you'll more than likely be getting the exact same production from them that you are from Carter and Langford currently, with less upside potential. This team isn't going to repeat or come close if we start depending on that many inexperienced players. At least Huff has had 195 big league ABs - he's honestly the most likely to do well with the bat, I just worry that he won't get enough playing time for us to see it.

Huff has big league experience and was way better than what Knizner has been, he also gives us a power RH bat. Something we desperately need right now in the absence of Jung. He's also 26, not 20 or 21 like Langford and Carter.
