When the Astros finally starting being a pretty good squad in the late 70s and early 80s, the Dodgers were at the height of their power with the Infinity Infield of Garvey, Lopes, Cey, and Russell. playing almost every game together for 9 years.
From 77-85, the Dodgers won the West 5 times, and the Astros only once. Good guys beat them in a 163rd game playoff that is drastically overlooked by the modern success crowd, but was probably the most important game in franchise history prior to Chris Burkes' NLDS clinching home run in 2004.
Plus they had this MFer in charge.
Around May of '86, LaSorda gave an interview where he told the national media that the Astros were just "renting first place."
The Yankees are a trivia answer - first team to play in the Dome and in Minute Maid. OTher than that, they've been owned by the Astros starting with that combo no-hitter and stretching on to the '15 wild card and all the playoff series wins.
