I like to think some guys like Bregman would want to stay with a club that is competitive and keep playing with the guys they have enjoyed such success with enough to take slightly smaller deal to stay home instead of heading somewhere new. But I am sure there are union guys in his ear about how his contract will affect the offers made to other guys and how taking a lower deal will end up costing those guys money in the future. Boras will be making the same argument.

This article (Nov. 2023) lists Judge, Nola, Nimmo, Diaz, Correa (lol he didn't exercise his opt-out), Realmuto, Strasburger, Cespedes, Jansen, Turner, and Chris Davis in the last 10 years.

I'm not sure how many of those meet the criteria of shopping around as much as Judge did.

Edit - Farmer is too good at this, but I'm glad he's on our team.

Tigers with a team ERA of 2.54 over the last 42. Team WHIP 1.009 over that same period. Over that period, there were only 2 consistent starters. 3/5 games were bullpen days. The entire pitching staff has been lights out. And now with some young position players getting called up or playing well, the offense is approaching average, when they had been abysmal.

26-10 in their last 26.
