Dubon - Whitcomb - Dezenzo - Caratini is a better bench than we've had for much of the season. I can definitely see Chas fitting back in over Dezenzo and Dubon being more infield focused outside of PH. We have available tactics if Joe needs to move things around L vs R.

Yep he looks ready. At least form the eye test he looks much better than I expected.

Skip the rehab and get him in lineup.

His rusty arm throwing on a gimpy shin is still miles better than the water pistols we had out there with Meyers and Chas.

Skip the rehab Dana.

KC has 2 players that we need to avoid: Witt and Salvy. Make the other players beat you, but don't challenge these two guys with men on!
I'm interested to see if they try anything out of the ordinary with Witt this series, particularly with a decent chance of seeing him in the playoffs. I know ESPN can't get off its knees for Judge, but Witt is the best player in the AL right now. Of course pitching around him gets him 4-5 steals a game and he winds up in scoring position anyway. His numbers right now with a month to go are already MVP worthy

114 runs (leads league)
185 hits (leads league)
39 2B
11 3B
28 HR
95 RBI
27 SB
.346 AVG (leads league)
.399 OPB
.618 SLG
1.017 OPS

Those are already better than Beltran's best season with them - probably 2003 - 26 HR, 41 SB, .307 average, 100 RBi, 102 runs, and on par with the best of George Brett minus the .390 season of 1980.

Brett's 1979 season was
119 runs
212 hits (led league)
42 doubles
20 triples (just sick)
23 HR
107 RBi
17 SB
.329 average
.376 OBP
.563 SLG
.939 OPS

In 1980, George hit .390 in 117 games (515 plate appearances) and slashed .454/.664/1.118 .

https://www.mlb.com/braves/news/most-improved-mlb-hitters-since-2024-all-star-break#:~:text=Bobby%20Witt%20Jr.%20smacks%20a%20double%20to%20left%20field&text=The%20AL%20MVP%20frontrunner%20has,record%20with%2062%20home%20runs.

Quote:

Already in the American League MVP conversation prior to the break, Witt has taken his offensive game to another stratosphere in the second half. In 31 games, the 24-year-old has delivered an eye-popping .427/.486/.774 slash with nine home runs and only 14 strikeouts in 140 plate appearances. Witt leads MLB with a .348 batting average and 110 runs scored on the season and has recorded 25 homers, 26 steals and a 1.009 OPS to boot.
It's been fun to follow as a long time Royals fan with almost no one to cheer for a long time (yeah, the 2013-17 guys were good, but not this good).

To bad the TV deal sucks so bad that 75% of the city cant' actually watch. Good thing the VPN option and MLBTV still work.

I'll go with Altuve legging out a bunt for a hit.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Already got swept up there making the record against KC the last two seasons 1-8. That's pathetic.

will probably need at least a week on rehab assignment. if he can get out on one by mid-next-week, that would give him a few weeks back before the playoffs.

You're going to confuse some of the more casual TexAgs 'Stros fans that today is an off day.

Just goes to show that players want the opportunity to play for an elite ballclub like the Astros.

I'll watch again tonight when he's batting live, but he sure "dances" alot as he loads & swings. Maybe it's his timing mechanism.

Might be setting myself up for disappointment here since we are playing at home, but with the roster tweaks / Heyward reinforcement, the good vibes from yesterday and rested pen, and a hopefully fresh Press back, I have a hunch this series could be when this team really turns it on.

I wonder what the problem is? The field has looked rather sad for at least a month now.
