He's 2 HRs from his 3rd ever 20-20 season. They were both 20-30 seasons back in 2016 & 17.

That is steal #313 for his career. He's now alone in 159th all-time passing Carlos Beltran. Next up are Andrew Dawson, Rafael Furcal, Brady Anderson, Jose Cruz, Tony Gwynn, & Steve Finley. He needs 50 more to reach top 100 all time.

Tony Gwynn?! I'm shocked. Guess he did some damage early in his career? Well, that and he was on base after nearly every other at bat for 20 years.

Just checked. He stole 56 in 1987, and another 56 combined the last eight seasons of his career. His steals were heavily skewed to his skinny days.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

I think he has flashed a ceiling higher than that a couple of times this season only to revert to being subpar. If those flashes can become consistent, I could see him being better than that.

Yes and no. He seems to have the right mindset as a fiery competitor and a baseball nerd to build up a high floor where I think he can stick in the rotation for a long time. There was a FanGraphs article a few weeks back about how he was all about shapes and being nasty in the spring but has since adjusted to attacking hitter's weaknesses even if it means sacrificing the nerdy pitch metrics. I don't think he will ever be a top-end arm. And I think he still needs to make some adjustments/improvements (his fastballs need work). I trust he and the pitching lab will.

Way back in the 80s I went to a game at the Dome where Doran led off with a triple and straight stole home on the next pitch. Even as a 12 year old, it was like a gag reflex watching him take off for home with no squeeze on or anything, you wanted to yell, WHAT ARE YOU DOING< DUMMY? And then he was safe.

What a smart guy ALtuve is if that was Jeter, Sportscenter would lead with it for the next 8 days.
