Yikes. San Diego won't care if they ever win a title.W said:
Xander Bogaerts and his contract...
throw it on the pile
he turns 32 in October...and the natural decline is well underway
incredibly he's under contract for $25 MM per year thru 2033
kudos to the Red Sox for walking away

I still chase the emotional high of watching my team throw a no-hitter in the World Series the night after they got blown outtjack16 said:W said:

Young controllable talent is key. We have a mix of that but then high dollar guys and overpaid players who aren't producing to their pay rate
Like Lance hasn't throwna pitchbatting practice since game 3 of the 2022 World Series and has made $34M
Montero and Abreu are still making over $30M combined and they aren't even in the majors

Replace some of the AAAA batters in the lineup with average type MLB vets at this point like Gamel and Heyward. Not the worst idea
If we had more MFers getting on base regularly the offense would be less of a concern, imo, QED, Ibid, and so on

That does help explain why he's so interested in never stepping on a field again.
Situational hitting like that would probably require a hitting coach encouraging them to do that. Unfortunately, our hitting coach seems to be telling these guys to try to pull sliders from the opposite batters box into the Crawford boxes. If that isn't what Cintron is coaching them to do, then he should be fired for not being able to convince them to quit trying it. If he is coaching that, then he should also be fired.BCEDAg said:BadAggie said:

So far I've been impressed with Gamel's approach going the other way. Maybe some of the other vets like Altuve, Bregman, Dubon, etc. should try doing it especially hitting behind the runner going to second base from first. When's the last time we witnessed a hit and run?
I definitely think LMJ wants to be back. I just don't expect to ever see it happen at this point.Ag_07 said:
Yeah if there's one guy who is chomping at the bit to get back as soon as possible it's Lance.
That's something I don't ever worry about with him. Dude loves to compete
