Honestly I think quite a bit of this recent slump is fatigue. Guys look tired and defense has been pretty bad overall.

the weak hitting teams don't have a player like Santander who can hit a grand slam on a ball up in his eyes

or have a leadoff hitter like Duran who can dominate a series

or a Turner-Harper combo at the top that can handle Josh Hader

Joe has shuffled lineups regularly but he's been pretty consistent in playing the stars when available unlike somebody else.

I get the signing and hope he hits, but not very optimistic. Have watched a lot of Jason Heyward hitting and have never been impressed. Maybe it works out - I guess they need to try something.

Agree - at least with Heyward it's a big league AB vs a minor leaguer getting abused.
He signed a 1-year deal with the Dodgers for $9mill.
Hitting .208 with 173 AB's; 6 HR's, .682 OPS.
Maybe change of scenery and switch to the AL helps him. I know he has a great throwing arm.

You bring up an interesting point. Due to circumstances I've had opportunity to watch a lot of Dodgers games lately. Heyward has been a guy I've followed over the years as he was with ATL, Chicago and St Louis before signing a deal with LAD. Jason has a great arm and has always been a pretty solid defensive guy, IMO. His hitting frustrates the crap out of me. I thought for a long time he was too interested in launch angle and hitting HR's. Also think he has a hole in his swing but the guy is mid-30's and has made multi-millions playing baseball so who am I to opine.

Either way, you are correct about his hitting against lefties. However, the sample size is small. He is 4/13 with 1 HR / 2 RBI's / 5 K's.

Julio Rodriguez is now 1 for his last 25 (.040 AVG)

His last home run for the Mariners was back on July 20th. He came back from injury on August 11th and has not been productive.
