He is not 37. He's 35. And he just turned 35 earlier this month.

He's played mostly RF. I doubt he's logging innings in CF, especially at MMP. I guess it means TED is dead. See yah next year. I hope I am joking.

Not good news as far as Tucker is concerned.

Jeez...

I don't think they're ditching ben yet. He's done ok so far. Probably chas goes down. Either that or denzenzo.

Signing all of these DFA OFers, I'm leaning toward this might be the case. I don't feel like I've heard many updates on Ted, so I'm going with no new is bad news in his case.

Possibly.

We need to make a decision on how we're handling 1B.

Half of it is Singleton. He should play vs RHP.

The other half needs to be either a mix of Caratini, Diaz, Dubon, and Singleton based on matchups and who's playing or its Dezenzo. If its the former, then Dezenzo can go down.

My vote is to use a mix of Caratini, Diaz, and Dubon to platoon with Singleton. That still allows Yordan to DH when needed.

I personally would go with that instead of keeping Caratini on the bench for PH bat.

After watching last night, Carantini never needs to play 1B again

And after watching Saturday Jon never needs to play 1B again.

And after watching before that Dezenzo never needs to play 1B again.

It's been a glaring problem lately and part of me wants to see Bregs there. If he can be serviceable I wouldn't mind Bregs at 1B and Whitcomb at 3B.

Outside of the horrible decision to not charge on the grounder, can't think of any other glaring issue we've seen with Jon at 1B

If they move Tucker to the 60-day, and it's retroactive, how quickly can he be reactivated? If there are no restrictions, then that would give them the opportunity to bring in Hayward for a tryout.
EastCoastAgNc
How long do you want to ignore this user?

Pretty sure they've already done that. 60 day can be retroactive to the date of the initial IL stint, and they're eligible to come off 60 days from the retroactive date. I remember a case where Correa got moved to 60 day and came off 3 days later

Here's a hypothetical. It's not something I want to happen or think would occur, but I'm bored this afternoon and worked up a thought exercise. Don't tar and feather me.

  • ASSUME the Astros are in disagreement about Tucker's progress. Dana and Joe have both hinted that they have expected and wanted to see more.
  • ASSUME the Astros sign Bregman to some contract that Crane will accept and is not outlandish.
  • ASSUME the Astros sign a veteran first baseman with a positive war... someone like Canha, not great but above the bottom quartile.

In this situation, again assuming all of those things are true, do you think the Astros would consider trading Tucker this offseason for the right talent in return? If so, what do you think the return would look like? It would not equal Juan Soto's deal between the Padres and Yankees, but I bet it would be in the 90% range.

And before you commence throwing rotten tomatoes, remember that I did this exercise with Kikuchi and pointed out how he was the best fit for a deadline deal. Ok, now fire at will (lol).
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Consider it? Maybe. Actually, do it? Hell no. Not if we want to win a title in 2025.

Sure, I get the obvious. If so, I hope Crane goes all in for next year. I think the incremental free agent losses will start to catch up to the organization after that.

So here is the thing. We may win this year without him. If he doesnt come back we will have played a bit over half the season and none of the playoffs. If we manage to win, we arguably did it without him. Yes its a big if but its still a fair conclusion.

It's possible, but let's be realistic. A player of Tucker's caliber greatly impacts season long win totals and WS odds. The Braves won their title without Acuna. Do you think they prefer to have or not have him in 2025?

What? Half the time is more than zero time, which is what "without him" means. Aren't you supposed to be the math wizard here?

Oh dont get me wrong. Tucker is under contract and we are better with him on the field than with him on the IL nursing a boo boo

But what if KC came along and offered Witt Jr for Tucker. Straight up. Tucker is packing his bags.

Somewhere there is a big enough package that if it was offered hes going to get shipped.

Astros aren't giving him up for anything less than a triple reverse Kikuchi deal.
