Saw this and decided to look up the new catcher Janek's numbers early. The batting stats are a little ugly to start out, but in only 6 games at catcher (he's DH'd another 5 games) he already has 8 caught stealing vs 7 SB allowed.

As frustrating as this development is, this actually ADDs clarity.

Anyone with a pulse knows you don't get swelling in your elbow from sleeping on it wrong.

Bregman saying that he has gremlins (bone spurs) in there that hurt worse when he does the wrong motion or position explains how sleeping on it wrong led to a break.

The sleeping didn't cause the injury, it just exacerbated it.

Again, I just don't underatand why the team can't be forthcoming with this. If the player doesn't want it disclosed, that is one thing, but in this case the player is doing the revealing.

The Giants got Canha for a mediocre mid-minors pitching prospect. Dirt cheap.

Again, to get a "splash" bat ended up being cost prohibitive, but we still could have helped the lineup with 1-2 modest moves. When you lack quality players, sometimes you just have to strategically find use for flawed ones in platoon usage.

It's such a bad lie that it's bizarre to even go down that route. Like what does it matter how it happened, if they are going to be out for an undetermined amount of time. Saying someone slept on it wrong, if anything, makes the player look weak and raises the question of why they are out for so long. We know that's not the case with competitive players like JV and bregman, all the more raising the question of why make up some weak excuse. Same with Tucker; "it's just a contusion". Why are we downplaying injuries. Good PR often involved under-selling and then over-performing. We are doing the opposite when setting time tables for returns based on "it's just a contusion" or "he slept on it wrong". I don't even know what to make of it. Nothing seems deceptive or malicious. It's just dumb.
