Hitting has obviously been atrocious of late, and when it's not we still struggle to score much - however giving up home runs with two outs in the 8th, 9th, and 10th in the last two games was a new way to make us pull our hair out.

Garcia seems like a more likely candidate to be a bullpen arm than Lance, which may take less ramp up time. Just speculating.

True. I think with Lance and Luis, it's not that they can't, it's more about whether the juice is worth the squeeze. Our rotation has been good and, at least Lance, isn't someone you want in the pen. For the pen, you are arguably better off calling up someone like Whitley than risking an injury for a potentially limited / ineffective Garcia.Ag_07 said:

I wouldn't throw Josh Jung anything but inside curve balls until he actually does something other than whiff or watch the ball and get rung up. He looked totally unable to hit an inner half curve ball. Granted Framber's pitches were pretty nasty last night sans the one pitch to Seager.

Whats fascinating to me is pitchers moving to 4 seamers, which theoretically produce more fly balls. I guess the goal is the batter either miss the 4 seamer (ideal) or can't turn on it (pretty good) to set up off speed stuff with downward movement that may produce more ground balls (very good).Farmer1906 said:

I suppose the other lesson is you better be able to get consistent line drives if you aren't a pull hitter. Not many swing paths can get line drives on riding fastballs AND downward moving sliders and splitters.
