Jeff Bagwell is a classic example of when a jock (even an elite one) gets out front of his skis and tries to develop a roster. But at the end of the day, Jim Crane made that decision. Hof players like Jackson and Bagwell doesn't = brilliant roster builders.

I hate these comments so much. All they are meant for is to call the player lazy and uncaring. Sure, Abreu is definitely getting compensated. That's great for him and a by product of making deals.

But, for super competitive people, do you think he's saying "oh well, I got my money!"

No, he was willing to go to spring training to try to fix everything and contribute. That should tell you a lot about how he feels about this situation would you want this to be the way your career ends?

So, sure, we can acknowledge he got paid, but let's not pretend the dude didn't care and is probably pretty damned bummed about the way his career ended.

He's not Anthony Rendon who is actually is saying, "oh well, I got my money."
