Makes sense that you consider selling high on Jake. I wouldn't just give him away to the Phillies though. Could you get Klassen and his upside? I think Caba is too much to ask for unless you expand the trade a bit.

It makes a lot of sense. If they were to go that route, they would want someone closer to big league ready. I'm not sure if Philly has anything like that in the system- but the Astros would want pitching or corner infield.

It all depends on how the organization views them. Personally, I would have a higher value on Jake. Much better defensively and comparable bat. Marsh is a lefty though.

I have been very pro trading for pitching help. If Meyers gets it done because he's valued so highly then it just proves the team (and a select few) were right about him.

Unloading Meyers for prospects is not a good idea is we want to compete this season. I assume that isn't what they were getting at since they brought up Javier & Urquidy.

At the time Marsh's bat was not good. He's excelled in Philly.

I'm not sure Jake has the mental makeup for Philly.

The Phillies are also looking to win so not sure who you could get to help this year. Same thing for KC. Maybe you could move Meyers and Pressly for Kerkering and a prospect. Kerkering seems like an upgrade right now and is cheaper going forward.

Luzardo - struggling but lots of control and stuff
Crochet - breakout season. Not gunna be cheap.
Gausman - buy low old guy with a fat contract and plenty of back of the baseball card. Can you get him cheap and fix him? Lots of risk.

Keep in mind right now they're doing their due diligence and approaching things from every angle to see what their options are (buying, selling, etc). They'll know more about the direction they want to go in a couple weeks.

I'd speculate Crochet requires at least Melton, Baez, Arrighetti and another pitcher. I personally am not a Melton fan and Crochet is a clear upgrade over Arrighetti. Baez has a huge upside but also has K concerns so depends on scouts opinions.

I'm still not sure that would be enough for the Sox. They prolly also want Matthews, who is the one guy I'm most hesitant to trade. Maybe Joey has appeal to them as a guy more big league ready.

The splitty is getting too much spin on it and its not bottoming out like it used to. The velo on the 4 seam is a tick don and getting hit hard. He's actually performing better than his expected #s show. The floor on him would be super low. He's still owed 46 M across '25 and '26.

Until he actually succeeds in the MLB we can't say it was a high price. We can say though that without Mancini we may not win that WS.

Amazing how all it took was moving him out of the 4 spot (.197/.544 Avg/OPS for season) and letting him bat 2nd (.265/.753), 5th (.438/1.626), or 6th (.400/1.371). We need him to keep hitting like this. Which means Espada will move him back to the 4.
