For txags92, it's 100% serious. I stopped replying to those types of posts because they were driving me insane.

People forget almost his entire Astros career has been in the 3 or 4 spot. But he's surely uncomfortable and feeling the pressure from that spot this year.

Sarcastic mostly because I don't think Espada is the guy. But I was pretty surprised at how lopsided his stats are. Although he hit in the 4 spot in 17 of the 29 games he played from May 9 to June 9, he hit .188 when doing so. He hit in the 2 spot 5 times (all in the last week) and hit .389, in the 5 spot 5 times and hit .450, and in the 6 spot twice and hit .571. He just isn't a good cleanup hitter right now.

The tweet makes it sound like he really turned it around since May 9, but what has really turned him around in that timeframe are the relatively few games he has spent hitting somewhere other than the 4 spot. So I assume Espada will move him back to the 4 for another week or so to let him prove it, because, you know, just look at the back of his baseball card.

So you are saying we should read the back of his baseball card and ignore what he has done all season hitting in the 4 spot? I am not arguing that he didn't do great things hitting there in the past, but as you said, it seems hitting at the 4 is kryptonite for him this season. He is SOOO much better hitting literally anywhere else in the lineup right now. I just don't see why anybody would want him back at the 4 at all when he is hitting great numbers literally anywhere else in the lineup.

Bregman has been at his best when facing a finesse pitching, in the 4th inning, at retractable roof stadiums. I say he only plays then so we get nothing but MVP level output. Because I'd argue at least 2 of those factors are more important that where he is in the lineup.

I'd be fine with trying him there again. It is his worst split statistically this season, but he only has 9 ABs there, so who knows what he will do now that he has warmed up a bit. My only point with all of this is that he shouldn't hit 4th for a while at least. He has over 150 ABs there this season and is hitting under .200. Hitting anywhere else in the lineup combined he is over .300. 150 ABs is not a small split to base that decision on.

Salazar can still be en route. they may just be putting him on the taxi squad just in case Diaz can't go in the next two days. but there is no roster move imminent that I'm aware of.
