Random question, but best to ask here.

Son is turning 7 on June 26 and wanted to take him to the game. Anyone have tickets that they aren't using that I could buy? Figured I'd ask here before going to other places. Was looking for something 'special', but not 'break the bank' special.

Any Ags got 4 tickets for the Wednesday afternoon game? Rockies/Astros, 110pm. Thanks!

I strongly recommend the Houston Astros Ticket Exchange group on Facebook

And I strongly suggest signing him up for Astros Buddies

For $40 you get a backpack, hat, socks, team store coupon, and 4 free tickets.

Tickets are for a handful of select games and in the upper deck but you can upgrade and pay the difference.

It's well worth it for anyone with kids.

Completely forgot about Astros Buddies. This is a good option as well.

I've seen season ticket holders sell their tickets to day games for super cheap on that Facebook page. Both of these options are great.

how the heck do I watch this game?

seriously annoying what MLB does with their games
Unfortunately the NFL will be following this model soon. Amazon, Netflix, Peacock, Nickelodeon, and the usual array of networks. Fortunately NFL games are only once a week, but this hunting to find the game will be a new past time.

So I've missed the past couple of games but to sum it up it seems like Pressly has basically blown the last two wins we should of had?

I mean we were tied last night....Absolutely no guarantee we would have scored again.

Yes against the Mariners about a week ago.

To defend him slightly, the winning run yesterday only got on base after 3 strike 3's were called balls.

I wouldn't trade the last decade for the world, but it's weird having St. Louis come to town and feeling apathy. They were such a great rival in the 90s/00s. Finally getting past them in '05 was a franchise-changing moment.

That last shot of Pujols had me look up his BR page. He hit .326 with 469 HR and 1,397 RBi in St. Louis. That's 39 HR and 116 RBI a season.

In 10 years with the Angel, he hit .256 with 22 HR and 78 RBI per season and never hit above .285 in a single season. He played in 74 playoff games for the Cards and 3 for the Angels.

At a price tag of $240 million over 10 years, could you make the argument that he is the worst free agent is signing of all time based not only on expectations, but on the fact that they couldn't get rid of him?

Pressly has been on the mound when the Astros were leading or tied and it turned to a loss 7 times this season (3 losses, 4 blown saves). The team would be 33-27 and leading the division without his meltdowns, and 30-30 even if all of the ties eventually became losses.

In a season full of suck, Pressly might be worse than Jose Abreu.

Obviously this is all hindsight and we know how good that is, but Pressly should've been dealt after we signed Hader.

He's just not a good setup guy. Never has been since he became the closer.

But I understand why not knowing how Montero would bounce back and not knowing how effective Taylor Scott would be.

It would've been pretty sweet to have dealt him for a nice haul and inject some prospects into the farm and maybe add a ML piece and let Montero have the 7th, Abreu the 8th, and Hader the 9th.

One of those blown save and one of the losses were the same game. So he only had 6 instance you describe. For one of the blown save, we actually won the game. That means only 5 of his instances led to a team lose. So the record would be 31-29 (with the blown save clean up, it would be 29-31 at best).

Your message is correct, just off on the stats.

How much do I owe you? Thanks again for them!

And I promise he'll probably eat as much as he can (which is about 2 scoops, because he's weird on ice cream). But coke? He'll try to drain the place out of it.

Pressly is another "old" player that the Astros have been stung by in the last 2 seasons

he's 35 years old

past his prime

What are the Astros going to do with Chas? He's had 19 PA since returning from injury and only 1 hit and no walks. Even before he was injured I think he was drawing walks.

I still believe he has the ability to produce at the plate, but the Astros may not have the luxury of letting him work it out on the field. He has 4 hard hit balls in 13 put in play, and only 1 barrel. All below his career percentages. He's missing pitches in the strike zone more than in the past, including fastballs, which he usually hits well. Chase rate is slightly up, and so is chase contact, which likely means weak grounders and fly balls.

My son and I used Frio's tickets yesterday. He's still raving about "the butlers who keep bringing sodas to your seats."

You're gonna have a blast. Frio is the man.

I've been hearing Chas' name come up a lot in regards to potential trades. There's a few teams who think he could benefit from a change of scenery. He's not happy with some things so maybe going elsewhere will get his mind right.

I'm not sure what Houston could get in return- but there's teams out there who need help in the OF.

the outfield is another challenge for Espada

Jake got his OPS up to .914 vs. the A's on May 24th

but it's fallen 100 points since then to .813

needs to stop the slide especially if he's going to hit in the top 6 in the order

MLB trade deadline tiers: Buyers, sellers and those in between plus needs for all 30 teams - The Athletic (nytimes.com)

Quote:

14. Houston Astros
Record: 26-34, third place in AL West
Run differential: -7

The Astros have been the most disappointing team in MLB and their streak of seven consecutive years in the postseason is at risk. But I still believe in this team, as long as it can get the starting pitching figured out. The Astros' lineup remains solid with a strong core of Kyle Tucker, Yordan Alvarez, Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman. They are still an above-average defensive team. However, first baseman Jos Abreu, who recently returned after a demotion to the minors, is in serious decline, and their other first baseman, Jon Singleton, profiles more as a role player. Josh Hader has converted eight of nine save opportunities and settled in after a rough start. Starting pitching has been the main problem as the trio of Hunter Brown, Spencer Arrighetti and J.P. France have combined to go 4-13 with an ERA north of 6.35. Take those starts away and the Astros would be at or near the top of the division. Framber Valdez, Justin Verlander and Ronel Blanco have been solid, but the injuries to Cristian Javier, Luis Garcia, Lance McCullers Jr. and Jos Urquidy have taken a toll and there's no promise of when any of them will be back.

Early trade deadline needs: The Astros are targeting a good starting pitcher, a first base bat and a reliever. This year they're going to have to trade their way to the playoffs, especially in the starting pitching department.

I've heard similar things about them trying for a starting pitcher and a reliever. Trying to get clarity on potential names (I like to hear things from two people before putting it out there).

I hate to say it, but this team simply isn't good enough and has too many holes to make any noise in the postseason barring a miracle. I'd hate to see us further mortgage the future on a long shot chance. Very different than 2017-2023.

Yeah I don't get it. If they are adding it should have been done two weeks ago. Worst case scenario is adding and still missing the playoffs (plus not capitalizing on trading guys for future help). That's a lose-lose-lose situation.

All very true

But for argument's sake the Astros are the 4th worst team in the AL and are only 7.5 GB of the division with 2/3 of the season left to play.

Many times we've learned that all a team needs to do is get in into the playoffs. Look at the Stros in 2020.

Just got to get in
