the original plan was to play 5 over in May and 5 over in June to reach .500 -- by the end of June
going to need a new plan now
Joe Espada: "Compared to the way we started our season, I think we're headed in the right direction. I think we're playing really good baseball. The last five days, we've faced some pretty good pitching and we're getting after it." https://t.co/hvKmNTpc4o via @houstonchron

LOL. He thinks the Astros are playing really good baseball?? I suppose he's just trying to be nice and not hurt the players' feelings. Is that it? Just seems like a braindead comment (again).EastCoastAgNc said:Joe Espada: "Compared to the way we started our season, I think we're headed in the right direction. 40% of your best offense isn't even starting. Make it make sense.

Espada just doesn't have any balls.
They have scored 6 runs in those last 5 games. That is the antithesis of "facing good pitching and getting after it". Somebody needs to explain to he and Dana that the idea behind "coach speak" is to say things that are bland and generally positive, but not actually blatantly false. Saying we "got after" the pitchers in the last five days is provably and blatantly false and damages his credibility to expect us to believe it.EastCoastAgNc said:Joe Espada: "Compared to the way we started our season, I think we're headed in the right direction. Absolute mockery of every player in our minor league system to have a player with a sub .300 OPS starting for us. We probably have a dozen minor league infielders who "aren't ready yet" that could do better than that. Just sad that we are floundering in the standings and still trotting him out there to try to save face for Crane's stupidity.EastCoastAgNc said:Astros vs. Twins RHP Ryan: pic.twitter.com/nnto1busKp

Another loss on tap, abreu back in the lineup
I don't know about putting your worst players out there but agree 100% the worst case scenario is not selling and missing the playoffs. You can do that with a young team but not an aging one with a lot of guys approaching free agency. This should be a good time to reflect on the long term vision of the org.EastCoastAgNc said:
I don't like it at all, and it hurts me to say this, but if this is the way the team is gonna play the rest of the way, they need to just lose as much as possible to make it obvious they need to sell big at the deadline. That means throwing abreu out there every chance they get and keeping Espada all year. The absolute worst thing that could happen is the team is close enough in the playoff race at the deadline too make Crane and the council of assistants to the regional manager think we should either stand pat or acquire players.
We either need to be leading the division or dogcrap last.
