They will never do that as Caratini carries a ton of value behind the scenes spending time with Diaz and the pitchers. When they decide to go a different direction, they'll either give Loperfido a shot or trade for someone cheap like a Garrett Cooper for example.

So he's more valuable as a backup and on the bench than as a starter in place of the worst player statistically in baseball?

I promise you these veteran backup catchers carry a ton of value day to day that we don't see. If things stay the way they are, they'll address first base. But it won't be Caratini or Diaz.

It's just a bad situation.

So just so I'm on the same page. We have complained Bregman shouldn't be 4th. He gets moved but also shouldn't be moved?

Who in that lineup should be 4th if not Bregman or Tucker?

Difference seems to be he's only going 3 innings a start. So unless they're grooming him to be a stud reliever / closer, I can see why he's still down in AAA until they can stretch him out.

He shouldn't be batting 4th. He should be lower. So moving him up to get even more at bats is not the move

I'd have Diaz at 4th … or Pena 2, Yordan 3, tucker 4, Diaz 5, Bregman 6

He shouldn't be batting 4th. He should be lower. So moving him up to get even more at bats is not the move

I'll admit I was against it last year but his numbers weren't good. This year he's hitting so well that it actually does make sense. He's also not grounding out as much so less double plays
