Good teams leave the most baserunners on because they have the most baserunners.

Last year we had a 121 wRC+ with runners on which was second to only the Braves. If you look at just RISP, it jumps to 124 wRC+ but we drop to third behind the Braves & Rays.

It was not a problem last season.

The Astros are playing tantric baseball. Once every few days it gets all built up and the offense explodes, but then they go back to edging for multiple games.

The good thing about having a poor farm system is you can let older guys keep getting reps and hope they pan out. Leon is a classic tools guy that you never know when it's going to click.

Not if one plays 1b...


If our catcher goes down to injury, Yainer will have to move from DH to C and we will lose that in the batting order regardless of how or if they can play 1B.

Edit: I reread what you said. IF Yainer or Caratini start at 1B then they could move to C without blowing the DH. That is correct.

We're not striking guys out and we're walking way too many.

The lack of Ks is what worries me.

K%
Brown 26.8% -> 20.5%
Valdez 24.8% -> 20.0%
Javier 23.1% -> 19.1% (was 33.2% in 2022!)
France 17.4% -> 17.6% - okay he's never been good at striking guys out.
