Really need to consider what a true alternative plan to Abreu looks like. That AB was as careless as it is hopeless. He truly looks like he's cooked and it looks like he knows it.

Listening to MLB radio this morning they were talking about the Stasburg payoff and the players union. You can renegotiate a contact to add in deferred $$ or other creative tricks but the union will not allow you to accept a lower value than the present value of the current deal. So in short, we owe him roughly $40MM and he's getting it. Whether he plays or not. You can stretch it out, defer it, whatever. But he's getting that $40MM
