It's just a sabermetric formula and they retroactively applied it to be consistent. They would have to do that for it to be a comparative metric.

Ours shows more than the pic no? It shows pitcher and pitch count and a timer for the pitch clock when some one is on base.

Yeah, when the velocity goes away it displays pitch count. There's a few of them in that pic that are like that.

I don't recall the pitch timer but it's definitely possible. Could be something I just haven't actively noticed.

Basically statcast has gotten really damn good at measuring things we weren't great at measuring before. In order the make WAR as good as it can be, they're replacing previous ways of tracking baserunning, catcher defense, etc with the new statcast versions. But statcast only goes back to 2016 so fangraphs can only update the WAR for 2016 onward.

Pitcher and pitch count is up there, no? The pitch mph turns to pitch count after the pitch.

And doesn't the spacecity logo turn to the timer? May be misremembering that….

Ours does have hitter and avg or their AB's for the day. But that seems sporadic and isn't consistently there.

Home plate ump can definitely call a swing, it's just that it's better if they don't since they have the worst angle to tell if it's a swing or not.

And….MLB/Astros send out promos to get it for free. So I also get to catch up on Apple TV+ shows, which has several good ones.

I don't think that'll last forever, but a nice perk for now.

Okay yeah, now I remember.

Also- as far as AppleTV+ goes- I wasn't a fan of the broadcasts at all at the very beginning but they've stepped it up in a big way. It's really, really good all around now.
