Isn't part of the reason is to get pitchers to throttle back and help prevent injuries?
I've also heard they aren't fond of bullpen games.

I'll throw out some other ideas.
- Nobody can try and steal a base until the catcher feels he's properly stretched his arm out.
- Nobody can bunt if the pitcher weighs more than 215 pounds.
- All outfielders get one "time out" per game when the batter has to stand still while they run to get the ball.
- If you're fat and you don't want to run the bases, you can use a ghost runner.
- Aaron Judge gets 9 strikes before he's out.
- If Ohtani guesses what the first pitch is, he wins $50,000 on his Bovada account.
- If the Dodgers go into extra innings, they get a runner on third and are allowed 7 outs to start the inning.
- Jose Altuve must submit to random buzzer tests every 5 minutes.
Dying at both of these posts. Touche.BCEDAg said:The Porkchop Express said:

Be careful - hopefully Manfred never sees this.

It feels like a way to punish smarter teams that know how ineffective some pitchers can be when extended or facing a team for the third time.

And now the Mariner's broadcast of the home run.linkdude said:This is Muñoz's first home run allowed since May 18th when Gunnar Henderson took him deep. It is the first time he's given up to a right-handed hitter since July 8th of last year to Martin Maldonado. The last two right handed hitters to take Muñoz deep are Baez and Maldonado. https://t.co/7yRzJyBxDm

If you get a chance to take in some games at West Palm, I highly recommend it. We went in 2019, and had a blast.
