Not if we re-sign Breggy as head pitching coach on the field playing third.
Plus as I understand isn't Shay the more pure hitter so if we can bring him up as the utility guy who can play anywhere and be a great bench bat we're doing well.
You're right about the state of the lineup right now, but the frustration (and I know it's not limited to me) is that they also don't do the things to try to maximize their chances at the plate. They don't work counts. They don't seem to be hunting "their pitch." The same guys keep hacking at the same stuff. The same pulled balls on the ground keep happening, They run into outs on the bases. Everything from the "big bats" on down seems to be going through the motions with never an adjustment in sight.
Either the pitcher makes a critical mass of mistakes and a few of them don't get missed, or we put up two runs. Unless we also get help from the opposing defense. We keep counting on home runs we're not hitting.

I was poking fun, though I think we should maximize positional flexibility. My only beef is why Dezenzo and Whitcomb both don't get work at 1B. Given our gaping hole there, specifically from the right-side, it's really baffling.texasaggie2015 said:

Dezenzo has. Shay has played 3rd, SS, 2nd, & OF.
I hope we exclusively put Dezenzo at 3B. We need to figure out if he's got the chops to play there everyday.
I'd still split Whitcomb and Dezenzo 50/50 at 3B. I don't want all my eggs in one basket when Bregman leaves. Both should get time at 1B (the other gaping hole). I'm fine with Whitcomb getting a little OF time but that doesn't appear to be his clearest path to PT next year. He can't play CF and Tucker has RF. Melton, Leon, and Chas are all options for LF with Yordan getting some PT too.
He can be the next Dubon.
Except the one position they don't want to play Dubon is…..first base

I wasn't able to watch last night's game. Box score looked reasonably strong for Kikuchi with 11 k's and 2 early er's in 5-2/3. For those that may have watched him closely , did he appear to be pitching differently than at Toronto. I read he threw a lot more change ups relative to his norm.

Dubon's last 7 games he's 2 for 15, last 15 games 4 for 37. Chas has the same number of plate appearances as Dubon since July 10, but has been better.
Lower velo guy that throws majority breaking and offspeed. Probably a better match up for Doobie than Chas.

Luis Garcia walked in today feeling better. Joe Espada said the team took imaging on his elbow and everything is fine. Garcia still isn’t throwing, but it’s relatively good news.

Unless I missed one, looks like 6 ER in 23 save opportunities. 4 ER in his 22 saves.
