The sports analysts try to pick the best player available at the pick, similar to NFL draft projections. Where the rubber meets the road is what the organization needs, and what's available. Analysts don't have as of an good idea what the club thinks of their minor league talent, how long they project them to take to be good enough for the show, etc. oftentimes, when you're drafting, you draft a guy for your needs 2-3 years down the road unless he's that good in College to start right away like a Paul Skenes kind of player.
That's my take, anyway.

I actually think the plan is to continue to use Diaz in a platoon with a weaker hitting catcher while he DH and Yordan plays LF. When Diaz catches Yordan DH's then occasionally put in a few other guys at DH for a rest day.

I don't think the plan will ever or foreseeable future to have Diaz catch 140+ games per year

My previous job got bought out and moved to Pitt. I was given the choice of relocating or taking a severance package. I went up there to try it out for a couple weeks. Get a feel, ect. People were nice, just didn't want to be stuck in that city.

I have spent a few weeks at a time there for my job. It's a nice enough city, there's some good places to eat, but just not a fit for me.

Definitely fair. My favorite place I've lived to this day is upstate South Carolina. Beautiful scenery and fantastic people. Generally good weather as well.

Baseball America put us on Tyson Lewis in their latest mock. Profile below. High school SS that is ranked around 40th overall by BA and MLB. I think we prefer a college bat but not sure Dana will settle on one he thinks is destined for 1B / DH like Tommy White that early. He may be content to take a college bat first type in the 3rd like Jared Jones, Gage Miller, or Corey Collins. Might look for one of the high school SS projected to go in the second that is willing to sign under slot. The Mariners have had a lot of success going that route in building their farm.

I haven't been in several years, but the thing that aggravated me was that GPS was terrible there, because it's like some places are in layers, up the hills, and GPS might think you're on street X, when you're on street Y.

I'm sure if you've got Paul Skenes $$$, you have a driver.

Skenes should stay in Pittsburgh, but that's not gonna happen. We'll see which coast he eventually ends up on.

Yeah high ceiling. Think they are going to be very careful with him given his injury history. Might not even be in AA by next year.
