I'd say probably Walsh (LHB). Former AS. Could be a rebound player. Could be a long-term option at DH.

Having said that... these are the times you get to test your developmental players. I'd say give Crim (RHB) the Opening Day start. If you can stash Walsh in the Minors, great. Crim, like Foscue, has done all he can in the Minors.

I believe Foscue has described himself as capable with routine 1B duties, but things like holding runners and double plays are a WIP that he needs more time to develop. Looking at his baseball-reference numbers he has a career total of 9GS (12 G) at 1B. Minors+College.

It has not been a fantastic spring for Leody Taveras. Bruce Bochy said they want him getting lots of right-handed at bats, though, and he's done that. He's 1-for-17 with 9 strikeouts, including six in the last three days.

Might be a typical case of Taveras (played "B" game, yesterday, apparently) working on team requested work in a more controlled environment.

It is a big day for Leiter. He's gotta throw strikes plain and simple. Everyone gets whacked in the pros, but if you can't throw strikes they can't help you much. I really do believe that if he doesn't start pounding the zone more regularly, and soon, that he's trade candidate number one.

Really only 13 games left in ST... there are a couple SS days, but for the most part we're nearing the end.

I think Urena will get one more GS, but this should be it for Leiter regardless of his performance. Today likely positions him in the order of being called up and how much confidence Bochy and Maddux put on him.

I think the #5 comes down to Urena and Bradford. One to the BP.

I think Urena makes it over Church, but Church will get a call-up soon (weeks?!) after Opening Day.

I get why Urena is around for depth, but he's really bad. He's 32 so no changes coming and we better all hope he's in RR all year. He's the Autin Bibens-Dirx of this squad.
