I think the same way. Go all in while the window is wide open. CY has gone on record saying we don't want to go over the luxury tax but he's open to it. Whether we sign Monty back or not will tell us what direction this franchise wants to go.

I agree, I think Soto could have been a good fit for the Rangers. 1yr @ DH would give us that fill, and then with either Langford and/or Duran sliding into position, Adolis or Seager could fill DH. I just don't know Soto's clubhouse demeanor/fit.

I think Dunning would be too big of a loss and wouldn't have been necessary. He was our best SP the 1H23 and with 3 years of Arb, is a tremendous inexpensive piece moving forward.

Dunning as a SP went:

Aug/Sept: 11 GS, 4.40 ERA
I'm hoping Dunning ran out of gas in the 2H and started to see fatigue and some loss in effectiveness. If he could sustain the 3.00 or even go to 3.50-3.75, for the entire 2024... I'd be pleased as punch.

I believe Scherzer is only under contract through '24

deGrom has mentioned periodically.

I think he is expected back in Aug '24. No clue what we should get, but if we got more than 25-30 IP, I'd be surprised, just based on the time left in the season.

I think traditionally, TJs go 100-150 IP in their 1st year back. There as been recent belief that limiting IP hasn't shown to be relevant to success in return. I'm still on the "limit to less than 150 IP" if for no other reason, tradition.

So, if we get 150IP in 2025, that is best case to me.

I just want one good year of deGrom pitching in at least 25 games. Not sure we will get it but wouldn't count out a guy at his level.

I've already mentioned this in the past but we should take a hard look at Neris. Seems like the perfect guy for us considering position and price.

The Rangers, facing financial uncertainty due to the potential loss of their local television rights deal, seem unlikely to bring back left-hander Jordan Montgomery, who can argue that he has outperformed Aaron Nola, the Phillies' $172 million man, over the past three seasons.

Kershaw would be less expensive. A number of other free-agent starters would be, too. And in the postseason, the Rangers demonstrated the value of pitching depth, using three starters, Andrew Heaney, Dane Dunning and Jon Gray, as glorified openers or relievers.

The team, according to major-league sources briefed on its plans, has the same idea in mind for '24. The Rangers could sign Kershaw and wait for him and deGrom in the second half. Or they can go for second-tier free agents who would be ready to pitch Opening Day, pitchers such as Michael Wacha, Sean Manaea and Frankie Montas. And perhaps prospects such as Owen White and Jack Leiter would provide the second-half boost.

The Rangers already have several starters in place Gray, Heaney, Dunning and Cody Bradford, not to mention, ahem, Max Scherzer and Nathan Eovaldi. It's just a matter of how general manager Chris Young rounds out the edges. And Kershaw, if he is indeed capable of pitching in '24, would be one heck of a way to start.

No idea. I think people are speculating based on hometown and the nuns thing with the Dodgers.

He's not worth that either. Dude can't even pitch again until 25, if he ever will again. He's essentially a DH at most next year, and who knows after that.

I was expecting him to get around 500 million which is very fair. 700 million is insane.

He will make $432,098.77 per game if he plays all 162…insane.

Wonder on average how many tickets that would make up per game?
