Friday night is loaded. Sweet 16 (especially UH/Duke), Astros/Yankees, Rockets suddenly in the playoff hunt facing the Jazz.
Anyone down for a little texags meetup?

Baseball Reference is drunk.
https://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/majors/2024-playoff-odds.shtml
It has the Mariners winning the division with 91 wins and second-highest WS odds in the AL behind Baltimore.
It gives the Astros 87 wins and 5.5% of winning it all.
It projects NYY to finish last in the AL East with 71 wins.
The Brewers are given a 8.1% chance of winning the WS.

If we assume Loperfido plays well in Sugar Land and Abreu starts how he did at the start of 2023, how long before Loperfido gets the call?
But trying to win every game 2-1 isnt a realistic strategy for success.MosesHallRAB04 said:
Mariners pitching, starters and pen, is going to be salty

For sure, just like last year, when they couldn't beat the "declining" Astros when it mattered most.MosesHallRAB04 said:

SEA was a .500 team (literally .500 on the nose) until July 25 when they went on a 27-7 run. That coincided when their schedule got stupidly easy and J-Rod when on his world class heater. Once the schedule turned and he cooled off (and IIRC he went on the IL?) they played the rest of the season under .500.Farmer1906 said:Mathguy64 said:But trying to win every game 2-1 isnt a realistic strategy for success.MosesHallRAB04 said:

This is a little too much exaggeration.
The were 11th in runs, 10th in Offensive WAR, & 9th in wRC+. There offense wasn't terrible. We'll see how the changes play out.
