I misread this post........................................... oh boy.
He's a free agent. He does have a QO, so we would lose a 2nd draft pick (already giving up 1 for Hader). Also, would likely push us over another luxury tax threshold, so we would lose $1m in international bonus pool money. Sounds like they are not close on numbers and latest thing was we aren't the front-runners anymore. Doesn't mean it can't happen, but probably unlikely unless Boras gets a visit from the ghosts of free agency past/present/future tonight and has an Ebenezer Scrooge level ephiphany and gives him away to us for cheap.Bag said:
so, admittedly I am not following this closely, what were the astros rumored to be giving up in acquiring Snell?
Giants are among teams showing interest in reigning NL Cy Young winner Blake Snell. Uncertain where SF stands but manager Bob Melvin, who had him in SD, said this today. “I want Blake to go somewhere he’s happy. He’s a terrific kid and a good pitcher.”

All is quiet on the Houston/Snell front. I heard earlier today that talks were picking back up. But, to corroborate what the real reporters are saying, Stros/Snell are far apart on $. Would take Jim upping the ante to get back in the hunt. We’ll see.

I'm not his biggest fan but dammit I still keep a Bauer at league minimum as an option in my pocket. Especially with Urquidy news

Boras is in a tough spot. He's got 2 SP he needs to find homes for and right now he seems to be pumping Snell more than Monty. I wonder if they are wondering if the other guy is getting top billing.
BREAKING 🚨🚨: Blake Snell announced he is retiring for the 2024 season with plans to return in 2025.

"Just gonna take some time off, chill out and get the numbers right," Snell told reporters.

he was a free agent why didn't he sign back in December
Yeah Crane tried to sign me to a 2 year deal worth 1 mil per, with a team option after year 1 but I KNOW MY WORTH DAMMIT!BMX Bandit said:Quote:

Same reason I didn't.
No team would give us the contract we wanted.

“He just seems advanced.”
“He’s never too big.”
“And when he cooks some food, it’s never a bad idea to be around him.”

Thought we could do a Sporcle quiz (or more than one) a day as we count down to the start of the season.
This one is all-time Astros who have hit 25+ homers in a year. I got 65/73, and could have been near perfect except for a brain freeze on a guy from the last 10 years. I look forward to seeing who gets 73 first!

I couldn't remember Evan Gattis's name. I knew his position and what he looked like but the name just wasn't here for me.Farmer1906 said:Same 65/73.The Porkchop Express said:
