Just talked to Lance McCullers Jr. about the Gerrit Cole news.

He says they wouldn’t go public with an MRI unless they’d already identified something. Interesting to get his take!

This is just a fan at spring training, but interesting take from Lance. If Cole is out for a significant amount of time, the Yanks may be in trouble.

Rodon was bad and injured last year and got lit up in a ST start already.

Cortes took a big step back in 23 and got lit up twice in ST starts already.

Stroman is a plus if he's your 3/4 type. But if he's your ace or #2 then you're probably not a great team

Clarke Schmidt is just a guy. He's more effective out of the bullpen.

Fangraphs shows their #5 (with Cole out) as Clayton Beeter. He's never thrown a pitch in the bigs and had almost a 5 ERA in AAA last year.

I know adding Soto to your team is awesome, but he may cost you the season since there is no Michael King (Padres #3), no Jhony Brito (Padres #4), no RHP Drew Thorpe (#73 overall prospect per FanGraphs), and no Randy Vasquez (AAA SP).

If my maths from a few weeks ago is correct then Snell might cost the Yankees around $50 M for 2024 if they sign him. Signing him to replace a potentially injured Cole seems unlikely.

All depends how desperate they are. The White Sox are in no rush to move him, so they can wait around til they get the kings ransom they're waiting on.

Yes, but the value drops if he starts out poorly (like last year) then the sample size of poor play grows and the innings you're getting moving forward shrinks.

Messed up his toe when he kicked the curb on the outfield wall at Dodger Stadium. Was screwed up all year after that.

Source: Dylan Cease is incredibly close to being traded to the #Yankees. The prognosis on Gerrit Cole’s elbow suggested he more than likely will need to undergo TJ, and they know they can’t waste this year with Juan Soto’s free agency looming. Thus a package came together quick.
