Up to 5 steals, one of them including a bad throw to 2nd by Diaz leading to a run scoring. Framber is done after 1.1IP, 2 earned runs, 1 unearned.

Time to sign Montgomery and trade Framber to whoever thinks their team shrink is Freud and Jung's love child…..EastCoastAgNc said:

They probably aren't up for sale yet. I still am getting emails trying to sell me season tickets personally, even though I've told them I already have them via company.Rustys-Beef-o-Reeno said:

Framber Valdez's first Grapefruit League start is over. He allowed seven of the 11 batters he faced to reach base. CJ Abrams had two hits against him, including a leadoff, opposite-field home run. Valdez walked a batter, hit another and allowed five hits.

On the point of him calling pitches, the radio guys pointed out that he did not do that at any point today. Diaz called everything.
I believe he was referring to today.Lonestar_Ag09 said:EastCoastAgNc said:

“I think the more and more I go in spring, the more I’m going to raise the intensity,” Valdez said.

With PitchCom it will all most likely be coming from the bench once the season starts anyway.Farmer1906 said:EastCoastAgNc said:

Ultimately the pitcher is in control of what pitches he throws. The catcher can call it and the pitcher either agrees or shakes him off. It's not exactly a huge stretch for guys to move on from catcher to their own.
I have always wondered how the whole process goes. It probably wouldn't be hard to write some type of program to decide on what pitch to throw next.AgLA06 said:With PitchCom it will all most likely be coming from the bench once the season starts anyway.Farmer1906 said:EastCoastAgNc said:

So, it's probably changed / evolved since I was involved in game planning for opposing batters. 20 years ago it was watching game film with the pitching coach and senior pitchers and reviewing advanced scouting for tendencies and weaknesses to come up with a plan on how to pitch each potential batter based on the pitcher's strengths / weaknesses and the situation (runners on base or not, fly ball vs ground ball vs strikeout pitcher, etc).Farmer1906 said:I have always wondered how the whole process goes. Input
- pitcher's pitch repertoire
- L/R splits
- Batter's scouting report
- How the pitch looks on a given day (stuff+, spin, velo, etc)
- What was thrown in an earlier plate appearance with the results of said PA.
- Count of the at bat
- And maybe a few more things I am missing.
Put a weight on each of these factors, maybe incorporate some AI, do some testing, and you have a scientific pitch caller. Its one less thing for the catcher & pitcher to worry about.
Jacob Melton just went oppo for a two-run home run into the Astros' bullpen.

It's Nike's fault. Fanatics just bought the Majestic production facility, which Nike uses to make their ridiculous ideas into reality.

So did Fanatics have absolutely no say in the matter?

They're the MFGer. I would assume they're making the product to Nike's order. Generally, the customer will provide specs, drawings, etc and the manufacturer builds to that. A good manufacturer/partner will provide some engineering support. They could have raised the red flag to Nike.
