They honestly DGAF. The other thread has a significant amount more complaining and thin skin, so it gets clamped down on harder to appease. Every year, whoever this moderator is tries to convince everyone he is an "Astros fan" in hopes that makes him seem fair and that is about the only response given. You won't get responses over email because you don't pay them anything...although it is a little surprising they are unaware that you generate more clicks and income as a valued poster. I agree. I was mostly being sarcastic and over the top because of how each thread reacts. We should be able to post innocuous simple baseball stuff or questions in each others thread. Too many people go too far or troll. Or one side gets sensitive over nothing. Like when someone asks for food recommendation in each others city.

If that's the opponent's strategy, they will be the dumbest MFers in MLB. You are overblowing this. With Bregman's OBP, they also run the risk of 2-on, at minimum, for Tucker.W said:

Yordan at 2 is going to be awesome, especially with Altuve at 1. That 1-2 is going to be brutal for opposing pitchers.

Yordan at 2 is going to be awesome, especially with Altuve at 1. That 1-2 is going to be brutal for opposing pitchers.

Last year the 3-hole saw almost double the amount of '2 Outs, No One On' than any other position in the lineup. Almost 22% of the 3-hole total PAs are '2 Outs, No One On'. It would stand to reason we want someone who can still do damage because they're in a lot of favorable situations yet not be our best HR hitter who will load up on solo shots just due to opportunities. A high on base guy, like Bregman, fits that role to start the 2 out rally for TED.
Bingo.
Plus with Yordan in front of him I expect most of Bregs' ABs to be with the bases empty.

I think we Yanier further down the order than we would expect the first half of the year to try to ease him into full time play. In his at bats last year he seemed to press a little at times. I'm guessing he hits 7-8 so there isn't pressure to keep a rally going until they feel he has the swing of things and move him up toward the end of the year.
Also keep in mind. As a catcher, you want to take the gear off as little as possible. So further down the order allows you to sit on the bench and rest a little more instead of taking of the gear to stand on deck before putting it back on.
Hopefully he hits so well, he's in the 5 or 6 hole by the all-star break.

Whoever strikes out the least should bat 5th. I assume that is abreu. Espada is giving tucker the chance to drive in 130+ runs and name his salary next year with that top 4

Yeah Abreu has been an RBI guy his entire career and I'd trust him in that 5 hole to start out.

I love Meyers in the 9-hole with his above average speed and upside with his swing. If he can get on base for the top of our lineup that's so big compared to the black hole we've had in the past.
I'm certainly higher on Meyers than most but I've been told several times the organization things he has very high upside. It's all between the ears for him. If he gets consistent ABs and his confidence goes up.. we could watch a really good player develop before our eyes.

Last year, that was Yainer. He was at 19.6% or 65th percentile. If we ignore his season in 2022 of just 9 plate appearances, the 19.6% is the highest of his career. In the minors he was 17.8% in AAA (2022), 15.0% in AA (2022), and similar the years before.
Clearly, it's not his eye that's keeping him from striking out. It's his elite bat to ball skills. Thats why I'm so high on his ceiling. If he starts to be more patient and somewhat selective, he's going to be All MLB / SS good. He got the pop and got the contact rate. He just needs to unlock one more thing.
Even if he doesn't work out, I would love Dubon there too. Good problems to have at the bottom of the lineup.

I'm okay with giving Abreu a shot, but if he looks like he did most of 2023 again then he needs to goto 7th or lower. We can't have him guy hitting well below league average in the 5 hole long term. We'd be better off with Pena there.

I suspect this will be the lineup later on down the road.
I just can't see them starting off by throwing Yanier in the full time roll while also telling him he's going to be protecting Tucker and leaned on as an RBI producer in the middle of the lineup.
That's a positive aspect of having a manager who understands things like "baseball strategy" and "roster optimization". Just because Jake might have first crack at the CF job he's going to play there everyday. We have a flexible roster that should allow for Chas and Dubon to also spend some time in CF, depending on matchups, rest, etc.Farmer1906 said:

Has Jake done enough to warrant being a starting CF for a team with World Series aspirations? Not necessarily. But the way the roster is currently constructed, I don't have any issue with giving him a shot and letting him hit ninth. He's had a few hot stretches over the last few years that show he has the tools. Just has to put it together and establish consistency.
If he doesn't, we have other options. It would be nice to have Dubon in a pure utility role this year and allocate more days off around the diamond, but he's fine in CF if Jake isn't (especially now that he would hit in the nine hole... not lead off lol).
If both of those options fail, we could acquire a CF or LF at the deadline since Chas can play either.
