I'm not sure the Mets ever had a lineup remotely close to what the Dodgers have put together though
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

Everyone was pretty hyped about Nimmo, Lindor, Correa, Alonso, McNeil, Marte, Canha, & Vogelbach.

Same with the Padres. A 1-4 of Soto, Tatis, Machado, & Boegarts was supposed to be unstoppable.

I'd say mini-rebuild in 2026 post-Tucker, Pressly, JV and Framber. So either barely miss or an ALDS/WC exit.

That is assuming we don't extend Bregman, Tucker and Framber
They're planning on 2025 or 2026. It all depends on what happens this year. If they take a step back, they very well might start the rebuild in 2025 from what I've been told.

But we're not taking a step back. The 2024 Astros are loaded. We're too spoiled to see it.

Nevermind, found it on archive.ph. Looks like Chandler is once again talking directly to this thread.

Quote:

Calling Crane cheap is ill-informed. He does not spend freely, but has carried a payroll (as calculated for luxury tax purposes) in excess of $203 million in every season since 2019. The club came within $3 million of exceeding the luxury tax threshold in both 2019 and 2021.

I mean, it shouldn't be a question for those of us that are more than casual fans.

When he bought the team, the 2012 payroll was third to lowest in baseball.

All the "sky is falling" Astros fans (not here) are gonna be eating crow next year. Some folks just want to be miserable.

From last March: Forbes: Baseball's Most Valuable Teams 2023: Price Tags Are Up 12% Despite Regional TV Woes

Overall Franchise Values:
Quote:

#11. $2,250 M
Houston Astros
One-Year Change: 14% | Owner: Jim Crane | Operating Income: $44.3 M

#12. $2,225 M
Texas Rangers
One-Year Change: 9% | Owner: Ray Davis | Operating Income: $58.1 M

According to the article, the Rangers get $111MM from Bally Sports with a 2022 avg household viewership of 21,000. The Astros receive $73MM with 109,000 avh household viewers.

Are the Rangers getting a lot more from their TV contract b/c of the whole Astros network snafu that happened years ago?

One more year. It is believed they were owed $111M for 2023... remains to be seen for '24.

ETA: Sorry, owed, not paid! Who knows what they got last year and will get for next year.

Lol, how are the Yankees valued at $7.1B when their operating income is $16.3MM? I have to be missing something here

I hear a rumor that the Dodgers are after the ghost of Lou Gehrig. Will play for same salary he did when alive.

And still defer 90%.

We should go after the cryogenically frozen body of Ted Williams. I have no idea if that is actually true but I've always heard it was. Probably freezer burned by now though.

The Arlington deal was done much more recently than the Astros deal. Generally new regional rights deals continued to rise on a yearly basis until about 4 years ago.

What lasted longer:

1. Arson Judge to Giants
2. Correa to Mets
3. Correa to Giants
4. Leah Vann as the Astros beat writer

Edit to add

5. Whoever was supposed to vet the new writer and check her SM accounts
