Feels like if Garcia is back for rest of series this is over, but if he's out then Snakes still have a chance.

Arizona has a chance either way. Why would it hinge on one guy?

Take Garcia out of the series against us and what would that have done?

Despite the historically bad umpiring, this series has essentially been decided (so far) on 2 pitches to Seager. I said yesterday the winner of Game 3 would win the series. However, the D-backs were written off against Philly and they came back. I guess we'll see.

Still have won?

Game 1: 0-4
Game 2: 1-3, did have an RBI in a 1 run game
Game 6: 1-5, was 0-4 with 4 strikeouts entering the 9th inning and with a lead (when he hit a GS for insurance)
Game 7: Blowout, He had a hell of a game but hard to say they wouldn't have won without him when they won by 7....

Regarding the Ron Washington rumors: I'm not going to definitively say there's no chance because they're keeping this search pretty close to the vest and it's possible there's a lot of information I haven't been filled in on.

But... this would go against basically everything I've been told the Astros are looking for and I simply can't see a scenario they hire another 70+ year old to manage the ballclub. If you told me he's close with Dana and makes the move here in an assistant role, I'll buy it.. but he has a pretty good thing going currently.

I'm pretty damn confident that neither Ausmus or Washington will be the next guy. My hunch is still Espada or another younger first time manager.

I'm thinking the Washington rumors are being fed by his agent wanting to get some more money out of the Braves.

Or to get him an interview/consideration for other jobs too

Yea. I'm guessing Crane is putting feelers out there in alot of different agent circles and is giving qualified candidates an opportunity to express interest in the job. I don't blame Washington for putting his hat in the ring and, honestly, wouldn't be that surprised if Crane gives him an interview. Good optics for the organization.

But I don't see any chance that he's the guy.

Crane has an extremely impressive track record with hires IMO. Some "media hype" has built around some pretty bad candidates for our manager/GM job over the years, but Crane has a way of quietly acknowledging while side-stepping them. Then, ultimately getting his guy.

When we needed an architect, we got Luhnow. When we needed to rebuild the pitching staff after 2019, he got Click from Tampa. When we needed a respected baseball man/leader to manage after sign-stealing, he got Dusty. When we needed to revamp the farm and get guys signed to extensions, he got Brown from Atlanta.

Now it's pretty clear that we need a manager to bring us back to rational/optimal deployment of talent and better incorporation of analytics into our everyday decisions. I'm sure whoever we hire will be keen on that.

All I can think of with Ron Washington is this is what the managers desk would look like.

Pass. Hard pass.

I get it that he would want to manage again, but would he really even have a chance in hell to be a manager again with anyone? I wouldn't think so. I know he's regarded as a great coach, but with his past and age I just don't see any teams hiring him to manage.

What you said could have been true about Dusty 4 years ago. By past I mean his constant postseason failures, not personal issues.

I'm liking this post and choosing to believe it because I want it to be true.

duty managed multiple different teams to world series appearances. Ron has had only one managerial position. I don't think you can compare the two.

I have no idea about the Ron Washington rumor or the validity of it. I will say that he has the reputation as being the best infield coach in all of baseball.

and who doesn't just love this:

well if we do hire Wash, and retain Maldy maybe Wash could at least get Maldy to try some of the columbian bam bam and drop a few lbs.

Dusty had more failures and reasons to believe he couldn't get it done. No one thought he'd get a chance again.

Edit: Dusty only managed the 2002 Giants to the WS before coming to Houston. So not multiple.

Honestly, I'm just waiting until interviews get leaked. Every agent in the world is going to want their client linked to the Stros opening until that happens.

Found this great two-fer from 1990 on YouTube.

First video is Eric Davis being called out at home in a game because Mike Scosia completely blocks the plate (illegally).

Second video is 2 nights later when Norm Charlton gets hit by a pitch while batting against the Dodgers, runs through a stop-sign at third on a double by Joe Oliver, and destroys Scosia at home. Good old-time baseball!

Blocking the plate was standard practice back then. So was annihilating the catcher if he was doing so.

Ahh the glory days.

And that was in the allstar game, an exhibition

So for some deep offseason content. Thought this was a fun, fair, and pretty accurate video from a creator I've enjoyed following for a while.

(Fair warning, it's not aimed at the suburbans.)

I don't understand why people waste energy creating stuff like this. What's the point- fooling a few people on the internet?

Seems worthless. But, that could be why I don't do Twitter, TikTok, Facebook or anything like it.
I love Texas Aggie sports, but I love Texas A&M more.

Yep. He should not see the field, and he likely just cost the Dbacks this game.

ETA- I stand corrected. He had not been awful in the playoffs until tonight. Oh well.
