Ok here we go - I'd be willing to bet the farm that talks with Snell ramp up even more.

I don't see them adding that much payroll. Gonna have to dump payroll to make it happen, which is why I suggested trading Framber. I know people see that as just swapping one starter for another but they neglect to consider what you get back. If you trade with the Red Sox for example maybe you get Cutter Crawford in the trade. Then you have Snell and Crawford and not just Framber.

Trade Framber for prospects to beef up the farm and replace him with Snell.

lol, this cracks me up.

I could go either way on that, but I'm leaning toward group 1. JV more consistent, but Framber can go a little longer game to game. I like the potential in Javier and Brown. McCullers has too much injury risk for me.

The Red Sox are kind of in a rebuild. They're not looking to unload prospects.

If the idea was to trade Framber and sign Snell then it should have been before Cease & Burns and especially earlier than right before the season starts. If we're worried about depth then adding and subtracting doesn't help depth. It probably hurts it because Framber is younger & pitches more innings.

Go look at our roster like I did. There are no significant pieces that make sense to moved.

Didn't urquidy have TJ before he got called up in 2019? Right at 5 years, and that's usually the limit before pitchers have to do it all again, right?

I don't buy that the Red Sox are in a rebuild. There's a reason they have been sniffing around on Montgomery. Getting a cheaper option with less of a long term investment may very well be appealing to them. Maybe they are like the Padres and will be opportunistic. I could think of other possible options but agree they would be more prospect swaps so you'd have to look at those players and evaluate how much they can help you this year. If the Reds are looking to go all in they have some high end pitching prospects in AA and AAA who could be swing starters / multi inning relievers. Orioles may also look to go all in. Their pitching isn't great but a guy like Mayo could be an impact bat this year who takes over for Bregman next year.

And as much as I hate helping the Yankees this year, if they are desperate enough to trade Dominguez and Hampton for Framber I'm doing it. I'm taking a swing for a potential ace AND all star corner OF. Worry about who's and where to play them later.

So what came first...urquidy elbow issues or engagement with Snell?

Seems a little too coincidental we hear about both of those things in the same day.

They've been engaged with Snell for a long time. I was told about a week or two ago there was a legitimate possibility. I'm still doubtful that it comes to fruition- but I do think they'll add an arm of some sort whether Urquidy is out for a while or not.

Joe Musgrove has done well. Although he was traded rather than allowed to walk.

Yup. We had to give up something to get Cole. As good as Hoe has been, his best year doesnt compare to Cole in Houston.

If you get a good Hoe you never want to let them walk away. You should only trade up to a better one.

Idea for Houston sports radio stations... Get former Astro LJ Hoes to go do appearances and remotes all over the city and broadcast it. Call the segment "Hoes in different areas codes"
If you got Hoes to be in charge of the Kangaroo court in the clubhouse, you could call it Stros Before Hoes

Good old Knepper ...

March 16, 1988 - It hits the fan when newspapers publish pitcher Bob Knepper's reaction to the performance of minor league umpire Pam Postema, attempting to become the first woman ump in the majors. Knepper states his religious beliefs that women should not "have authority" over men. Astros public relations say calls in reaction to the comments are running 70% opposed. Postema's career eventually falls short of the big leagues.

I might splurge on these to wear in Boston. Might as well be loud and obnoxious to "blend in"

Snell, 31, is believed to be seeking the same type of contract recently signed by two other Scott Boras clients, Cody Bellinger and Matt Chapman a three-year deal with two opt outs.

The problem with that kind of deal is that it costs you a draft pick for only 1-2 years of play and they will opt out if they're doing really well.
