TB is a struggle for me and I sat all day long trying to think of a STL/TB and as I was watching the A&M game last night it hit me!

I really need to just instantly go the through my mental list of Ags anytime I see TB, it feels like a disproportionate number of our guys end up there

Three Aggies! Just popped to mind while posting my grid that Brandon Hicks could also be placed in the Braves/Giants spot.

B.Thomson, Mo.Alou, Bo.Bonds
D.Lee, J.Hairston, R.Palmeiro
X, B.Dernier, R.Sandberg

I had an all Cubs grid going until.....Lofton never stole 30 bases with Atlanta?!? That was a SHOCKER to me.

Bobby Thomson was a fortunate play - I just learned the other day that he was one of two players, post war, to have been born in Scotland so I was looking over his page the other day and it was fresh on my mind.

Need to file this away for born outside the US but am sure I'll forget.

That was my thought as well!

At least it is someone whose name I *could* remember from his post season heroics and not just a complete random name

WAR is still tough for me but I didn't realize Knoblauch was over 6....I need to file that one away in the old memory!

edit: SAME WITH SILVER SLUGGER....that one makes me crazy because it makes no sense! It's misnamed!
jkag89
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Knoblauch's time with the Twins gets over shadowed by his struggles under the bright lights in New York. He really looked like he was on a certain path to Cooperstown and joining the Yankees seemed to ensure that if he could have continued at a solid if not spectacular level.

I think SS is hard for most beyond those awarded to players of their favorite team. It is made more difficult for me since it is a relatively new award and hence I can not fall back on older HoFers like I often do for WAR.
AgRyan04
How long do you want to ignore this user?
You're right, when I was looking at his numbers with the Twins they are pretty staggering.

Agree on SS. It doesn't make sense to me that the true "sluggers" don't have them (Dunn, Schwarber, Kingman) and then we have non-sluggers who do (Knoblauch, Cheo Cruz, McGee). I guess I probably need to looks up what the actual requirements are, but at face value, to call it the Silver "Slugger" is wildy inaccurate.

WAR and Silver Slugger are the two worst stats in the whole thing.

I have no clue how I tied Versalles to the Braves in my head....must have seen a baseball card? EDIT: Nope, that can't be it...he doesn't have a card when he was with the Braves. No clue!

What a wild career transaction list....

Won the MVP and two years later hs the "Player to be Named Later" at the age of 27....playing in Mexico within 6 years of his MVP and out of baseball before he is 32

Got to play our newly learned Bobby Thomson!

When Chuck Carr played for the Astros he had a black leather jacket with his name in silver studs on the back. As a 16 year old I thought that was wild.
