The fees are ridiculous but the platforms have overhead too. I don't like them but I understand the necessity.
I had to approve travel for an employee going to London.

JFK - LHR (Round Trip)

Base: $291.00
Taxes: $1,220.15
CC Fees: $0.00

Total: $1,511.15
I nearly choked. Taxes were 520% of what the Airline got.
I'm going to London next month and have already purchased my airline tickets. What are these taxes you are referring to?

I will be there game one and plan to hit the Evan Williams lounge. Great place to eat and watch pre game festivities. Cost of tickets is insane but I can't wait for this! Not many opportunities like this in a lifetime. No one gets old and wishes they went to fewer ballgames in their life with their friends and family.

Seats in my section, 122, are down to around $900.

Upper deck now going into the four hundreds.

Buy tomorrow morning.

The cheapest all-in price I'm seeing for upper decks is still $575 after fees.

That Sborz vs Alvarez at bat was the AB of the series. Absolutely beautiful work by Sborz. Got him to chase the curve outside, then brought the same pitch in just enough to backdoor the zone, then threw a perfect high and in fastball in the spot Smoltz had been highlighting as Alvarez's one "weak spot". Magnificent.
The post-game crew felt that Bochy using Sborz probably got into Alvarez' head. They said it was a ballsy move that would have been highly criticized if it didn't work. Apparently the Rangers decided before the game to go Right-Lefty because it was like, "Well, Lefty-Lefty isn't working."

How much did you pay? What airports?

That was the price breakdown when he submitted for the flights. $1511 was the total price of the ticket and the Taxes were broken out.

I shall see you fools there! Hoping for an outcome as good as my last World Series game (game 4 2011) and better than last Friday when I was in attendance.

I'm trying not to be overconfident, but the only 2 teams that scared the **** out of me are gone. The Astros and Braves were those teams. The rays are tough like always, but they're lacking in star power to win it all and I figured the orioles would be too green or fresh faced to make a run.

When we were in this situation 13 years ago, right before the World Series, we were pretty confident because our offense just ran all over the rays and the Yankees. Little did we know that the Giants were starting a dynasty of their own and we would be their first victim. The giants took pride into going into opposing stadiums and sucking the air out of the place with their pitching. Literally suffocating opponents to death like an anaconda or Burmese python does to its prey.

1 thing that I hope is different this time is Bruce Bochy is on our side now. Bochy managed circles around wash in the 2010 World Series and the giants won it going away.

Noticing the national folks really think we are just a smasher longball team. When we're cooking we are more of a solid contact extra base team that also has power. Just seems strange they are trying to make this a small ball vs a power only match up.

I've really never seen any player be either the hero or the chump like Altuve was in this series.

Game 1 he goes 0 for 3 with a gigantic baserunning blunder.
Game 2 he goes 0 for 5.

Game 3 he goes 2 for 5 with a homerun.
Game 4 he goes 3 for 4 with a walk.
Game 5 he hits the epic come from behind 3R homerun.

Game 6 he has the error that helps lead to the Rangers busting it open.

I still can't get over the fact that Altuve hit a HR in the bottom of the 9th in Game 7 and the Rangers still won. If you had told me he was going to do that before the game started, I would have assumed the Rangers were about to lose in the most soul-crushing way possible.

Yes. The only reason they lost this year was because all of their SP was tired because they have gone deep into the playoffs year-after-year.

If you are going to quote me, quote me correctly. Don't put words in my mouth.

Here it is for your convenience:

"Not make the postseason in 2024? C'mon, man. Take off your Rangers-colored glasses. The Astros team was unhealthy for most of the year. The pitching was worn out from year after year going deep in the playoffs -- AND they still pushed the Rangers to 7 games in their 7th straight ALCS."

I didn't say that was the reason the Astros lost. It's one of the many things that contributed to the loss like consistently failing to hit with RISP or head scratching managerial moves.

Again, tip of the cap.

I think we are at our best when we are situational and generate runs by moving runners along and don't swing for the fences on every pitch.

We can certainly mash, but it can take us away from generating runs.

It's still asinine to say it contributed to the loss.

Nevermind that DeGrom went down before the allstar break; Eovaldi missed 6 weeks or so, gray missed about 4 weeks; Odorizzi never even pitched this year.

Make do with what you have.

I was in work for Houston and a guy made the same comment "try getting to the alcs 7 years in a row". I said "I'm glad we just went to the World Series this year" and left if right there.

I don't want to hear any teams fans complain about injuries. The Rangers were hammered this year and here we are. I'm surprised and to be honest, had we not made it to the playoffs, that would have been a contributing factor. But, a contributing factor to the fact we are here was our deep bench. You would have never convinced me before the season that it was very deep but they stepped up when needed. Smith and Duran in the absences of Seager and Jung. The big one was Dunning pitching lights out most of the year in lieu of de Grom.
