Well boys we finally lost 1 game after winning 7 in a row. We had two guys out there on a rehab assignment and didn't use up any valuable arms in the bullpen. We fought till the end when it could have been easy to throw in the towel. Not worried at all after this game. I will not touch the beard till we win the whole thing. No matter how patchy and ugly it gets!

Tomorrow is a bullpen game too. We really need to jump on urquidy early.

Seemed like we watched a lot of Javier's strikes early on. Am I thinking things or did anyone else notice that? Sorry if it was discussed, I was on my "game time ban" still, which I guess now with the loss I can stop doing.

Max's rough outing and the offense not doing anything for the first 4 innings really hurt the team.

Let's hope the bats are more involved tomorrow - I'm looking at you Semien and Seager - and that pitching by platoon pays off.

Come on guys. We already have a bad rep. Im sure they make fun of Nate Lowe with his mock turtle necks and bad balding haircut.

Astros have hacked pitchcom, they just dont want to use at home like the did the outfield spy cam and traschcan.
Thats why they do better on the road. Owner wasnt punished in first cheating scandal, will continue to cheat

Both. Start Heaney. He's had success vs. Astros. Then chase with Dunning.

Losses suck, but considering this was a BP game getting rust off a bunch of P.

We battled back and kept it close. Looking for a W tomorrow and we're good.

Plus we got their top relievers in the game. We play three straight days, so may help Thursday or Friday.

Our top relievers did not throw.

Yes and no. Max hadn't pitched in a month.

Heaney/Dunning are ready.

Not a horrible way to lose. Still a decent game. Didn't use any arms. Stros had to use Pressly and Abreu (albeit for only a few pitches).

I still think our only way of winning this series is to win it in Houston. They're just too damn comfortable on the road, but in this ballpark, they take hard. They EASILY could've been in double digits again, just like the previous 4 games they played here. We have exactly two pitchers that can beat them as starters and they don't pitch again until Friday and Sunday.

Baseball is 75% failure.

IF you can hit .250... you're failing 75%, but still make tons of money.

Baseball isn't about losing it is about managing success.

Got to win at least one in Arlington then end it in game 6. I feel like game 7 in Houston is a loss.

Would much prefer not going back to Houston at all but losing tonight just makes that tougher. Going to need lots of runs tomorrow.

They've clicked big time at our place in every game but the one we won back in June. I just don't think that's gonna change. Getting one would be huge at home. Remember, they are not 17-9 on the road in the playoffs since 2018. That's remarkable. Only twice in that run have they lost two road games in a row, one of which was in the World Series against Atlanta that they lost in 6. They just don't lose much on the road, but here is like they are their most comfortable.

Yeah its crazy how much they've run wild in Arlington. It's so strange. I told a friend that maybe it's just our time to be that team that comes through and goes all the way. But of course years of failure and BAS is rough.

BAS and being a lifelong Rangers fan are basically the same in my opinion. Although the Ranger fan has dealt with a much harder pain than anything the Ags have been thru. 2011 would be the equivalent of fumbling the ball on your own 20 with 30 seconds to go and the other team has no timeouts and that somehow leads to them winning at the gun in the national championship game.

Only the 1986 Red Sox can come close to understanding our pain.

The Radio said something to the effect that Scherzer went 70PC in his last session and that was likely the target the target they are hoping to reach.

I think Bochy likely gives him a little more leash than he'd give almost anyone else. I don't think anyone thought he'd make it back and he worked hard and was determined to help this team. I think if he can get through the 1st regardless of result, that he'll settle in.

Another point one of the Radio guys mentioned was that this might just be seen as a "knock the rust off" game for Max. You aren't going to throw the game away, but if you can get 70PC from him today, in a WS round, he now has something to build off. Since we have a fresh bullpen and plenty of long-relief guys, getting to 70PC may be as important as winning the game. Not that we can take for granted, but I'd certainly prefer where we are.
Bochy said yesterday he hopes to get at least that from Scherzer, but we'll see. He could very easily come out and get walloped early. I'm sure they have a plan for it.

And my leash isn't long for Scherzer. You aren't playing the Diamondbacks. You mess around with Houston, you'll find yourself golfing next week.

Ugh, decent chance Texas pulls that out with a quick hook. Surprised they left him in after the second inning when he clearly didn't have good stuff.

So much whining in here. Did you guys really think we were going to sweep the Astros? They won 1 game against 2 pitchers on a rehab assignment and Will Smith. You guys act like we threw the kitchen sink at them and lost 10-0. Relax.

Was good to see the bats start to come around last night. Need Seager to come out of his mini-funk. Need Jung to build on his plate discipline from tonight. Heaney and Dunning need to be good too.

Scherzer did about as well as I was expecting. My wife was griping about them pitching him last night until I reminded her that we will need him if we advance and last night was much better to get his first game back under his belt versus the next round.

See, I don't think so. Scherzer will be better next outing, and there's no way Javier pitches as well in Game 7 as he did last night.

Game 4 is muy importante. I don't want to have to win Game 5 vs. Verlander.

Losing sucks. I knew we weren't going to sweep this team. We just gotta make sure that we get 1 at home. I can live with taking 2 chances at Minute Maid to get 1.

We can't afford going back to Houston needing to get 2.

Agreed. But I'm more worried about the bats. If not for Jung we score zero last night. Top of the lineup isn't getting it done the last couple games. That's my concern because we know how quickly this group can go into a funk.

Tonight feels like a must-win game. I know it's not, but we can't let the momentum all go back to Houston. I don't see us winning two more in Houston, although in the WS against the Nationals, the road team won every game.

Baseball is stupid sometimes.

Are there any numbers on our in-zone swing percentage? Man, Semien, Seager, and Adolis never saw a pitch in the zone they didn't like. They don't care if it's 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, or if the pitcher has thrown 8 straight out of the zone. We made more than a handful of outs last night in hitters counts. At one point Javier had thrown somewhere around 25 balls and 25 strikes and we had one baserunner in the game (walk).
