I mean it pretty much is a rehab start. This is just as much about getting him going again is it is about winning the game. You obviously want to win and put your best foot forward, but think they wanted him to pitch for a certain number of pitches almost no matter what.

Because Scherzer was never likely to go past the fourth unless he was just insanely efficient and punting on the game now is absurd.
Scherzer hasn't been terrible, but his few bad pitches have led too many runs. The bats so far have been terrible, though. Still time to make this a game though.

Don't necessarily see it that way. They're hitting Max, but it's not as if Houston is going to town. Max put two on base in the second with one out, and that cracked the door.
Not saying Max has been good, but I don't consider this a beat down, at least not yet.
