Nah... Looks like the O's are going Bradish-Rodriguez. Hicks (Rangers' Radio) said this morning that was what the O's media were expecting. The point was Rodriguez is 23 in his 1st season of MLB and the O's would prefer him pitching at home, instead of on the road for the playoffs.

I think the Rangers are possibly weighing two things. One, Bradish is the O's best pitcher. Two, you don't want the moment to sweep Dunning up (energy, electricity, noise). Do you want to throw him G1 in the ALDS on the road?! Three, this is just me, but if you are considering Scherzer for the roster, does that change your approach? If Scherzer did throw live batting practice, maybe they want to see an hour or two afterwards to see how he feels.

Could be to mess with the O's, but I think there are some legit questions.

Dunning hasn't seemed to be impacted by the moment, but this is a bigger game than he's played.

One other comment about the G1 starter.

From what Hicks said this morning, the O's are the opposite of Bochy. Where we are debating every option in the 3rd Slot, knowing the rest of the lineup is set, the O's adjust every position every game.

They don't have a regular leadoff guy. The are completely analytics driven and will use a lineup for specific SPs.

They have used:
25G Hays (LF-RHB)
39G Henderson (3B-LHB)
41G Rutschman (C-SHB)
47G Mullins (CF-LHB)

So, if you sneak Heaney or Perez (L) in there as the opener you can change their lineup.

At 3B for example:
82 G Urias (3B-RHB)
76 G Henderson (3B-LHB)

And since both Heaney and Perez were SPs... you can run them out there for 3IP+ knowing if the O's don't change their lineup for a LHP, you have an advantage. If they do change, you just bring out Dunning earlier.

They have to be motorized. The old days of using a crank to raise and lower the basketball goal in gyms was 1980's technology. Now, do they likely have to attach the guide wires manually? Sure, but $20k?!

What a difference a week makes. All of a sudden I trust every starter we have. Dunning, Heaney, Perez. Start Dunning, put Heaney at DH, and Perez at 1B. We'll switch them every inning, maybe every batter. We can't lose.

Bring on Houston.

Screw off I'm having meatballs from Trader Joe's. Been a long week and pulled an all nighter last night (not on purpose, serious insomnia).

Gonna catch up on sleep and put something on the smoker in the morning just don't know what yet.

My ass will be planted in my chair from 11am til I fall asleep. And no I'm not old.

The sample size is quite low. I guess I didn't realize the number of AB/G players face LHP is so low. Twice through the order means 2 AB and then they bring in a RHP. Facing a LH RP means 1G and 1AB, I suppose.

Get the Switch hitters moving across the plate.

This is one of the things the Rays have used to be successful.

I think this is what this Board has been asking for. Situational changes based on analysis.

You start with Heaney and they give you the Lefty lineup. Heaney can give you 3-4 IP and make it once through the lineup if necessary.

Dunning has come out of the BP so he should be ok, especially once you say, "Ok, we're putting you in to start the 4th."

If Baltimore decides to sub, they burn their bench and you're forcing that decision in the middle of the game. They end up moving their defense.

We hare Lefty heaving in the Bullpen, so after Dunning does his 3-4 or more... we're looking at Chapman (L).

I'm liking this.
