Bochy was asked this week on the Radio if Carter lit a fire under Leody... You could hear him smile and he basically said, "Good healthy competition is always a reminder that someone is waiting to take your spot."

FWIW... today on the Radio, Bochy was asked about the Chapman (8th) - Lecleerc (9th) calls last night.

Bochy said "That's where we are." Based on what he said/implied, LeClerc was ready to bail out Chapman if anything went wrong. Said Chapman when he struggles they watch him the next outing to make sure there isn't any issues (performance, I presume).

Basically, he came across as someone who has Chapman on a short leash, which I found refreshing, in the sense that he was willing to provide some transparency.

I think based on what he implied... Leclerc is the unofficial Closer.
