It wasn't a terrible pitch, it was in the zone until it crept at the end.
And we are/were down a run in the 8th with Garver and then a bunch of duds coming up. You can't hate how bad the bottom half of this lineup is but then also want one guy who still has some major pop to not swing in +EV situations.

In a standings tie with an unequal number of games played, it is best to not to be behind in the loss column.

At the end everyone has played the same number of games and if not then winning percentage matters.

No. You don't tag on a fly ball to the wall.
That's a 50/50 spot on first base. You play it half way so if it does get down you're now on third and taking the extra base. Tagging from first isn't natural either.

No. You don't tag on a fly ball to the wall.
No, you don't get too far away from first that you can't tag up when the RF falls down after catching a ball against the wall.
On that ball you are a step or two passed 2nd base so that if it falls you score, and if its somehow caught (like it was), you can still get back.
In no world do you tag on that ball, especially to right field. If it's caught in right field in any other scenario other than banging into the wall, you likely get thrown out at 2nd base trying to advance after tagging.
